Property of 6 ha in Côtes de Castillon acquired in 2011 by M. Thienpont (Puyguéraud, Pavie-Macquin, Larcis-Ducasse, etc.). After 5 years of restructuring, Mr. Thienpont is finally proud of his wine and offers it for the first time in 2016. Even if Merlot is dominant (92%), Alcée stands out from its neighbours by its emphasis on finesse, minerality and distinction. A wine in length and not in width!
Galloni (Vinous) : 89-91/100 « The 2020 Alcée is quite the powerhouse. Blackberry jam, bittersweet chocolate, savory herbs, lavender and cloves are all kicked up. This is flamboyant to the core, with tons of density and just as much immediacy. »
Martin (Vinous) : 90-92/100 « The 2020 Alcée has a well-defined bouquet, nicely controlled, featuring crisp blackberry, briar, undergrowth and very subtle marmalade aromas. The palate is medium-bodied with slightly edgy tannins that lend this Castillon Côtes de Bordeaux a Left Bank quality. Fine salinity emerges toward the finish. »
