Newsletters Futures 2017

Under the name « gems », we refer to unsung producers who make admirable wines due to their excellent vineyards and their own talent.

These wines are always produced in very small amounts, in vineyards maintained as gardens by gifted and meticulous wine-growers. Even if they do not make the headlines of magazines, they highly deserve to be discovered and tasted for their exemplary quality.

Dupont (Le Point) : 16/20 « Bouche séveuse, fruitée, longue, fraîche, droite, joli fruit, bien tramé. »

Attention: great wine! Without any noise, Feytit-Clinet is close to the biggest names in Pomerol. Only the price remains in decline.

Longueur normale. »
Galloni (Vinous) : 92-95/100 « Proprietor Jérémy Chasseuil turned out another gorgeous wine at Feytit-Clinet. Although the 2018 does not have the explosive energy of some past vintages, in exchange it will drink well with minimal cellaring. As always, Feytit-Clinet is one of the most virile, potent wines of Pomerol and all of Bordeaux, for that matter. »

The most flamboyant, sensual and extroverted Pomerol ever, under the direction of Michel Rolland. But also one of the rarest (800 cases per year).

Galloni (Vinous) : 94-97/100 « The 2018 La Violette is a heady Pomerol. Crème de cassis, blueberry jam, licorice, lavender and menthol capture a striking interplay of unctuous richness and freshness. Although not at all subtle, the 2018 is stunningly beautiful in a modern, sumptuous style that offers tons of immediacy. »
Martin (Vinous) : 92-94/100 « This feels creamy in texture with a fine bead of acidity, fleshy and ripe with blueberry and cassis notes on the smooth finish. Sexy. »

In 2004, Jean-Michel Chartron gave a new impetus to his estate, with the chance to have an extraordinary land heritage (the Clos des Chevaliers is the best part of the Chevalier-Montrachet, itself considered the best grand cru in Puligny after Montrachet). Mineral, nervous, powerful and long, its wines are among the greatest in Puligny. Rated two stars in the Revue du Vin de France guide.

    Appointment

Jean-Michel Chartron was doubly elected "Winegrower of the Year": in the magazine "Bourgogne Aujourd'hui" in March 2018 and in the Hachette guide in September 2018.

Jean-Michel Chartron "The fruit was in extraordinarily good health, and the weather was perfect, allowing each winemaker to harvest at the optimum moment. The mood was serene across the whole wine region, producers enjoying this magnificent vintage that combined quality and quantity. Many think this will be one of the best vintages in many years. In 2018, the aromatic complexity of the white wines is incredible. They are explosive on the nose, with an amazing diversity that reflects each terroir. The wines have a certain crispness and good minerality. In the mouth, they are rounded and generous, balanced with a nice tension."

Amazing story as that of Dominio de Pingus. Created in 1995 by Peter Sisseck, a Danish (!), this estate a few kilometres from Vega Sicilia has become a cult in less than 15 years.

Flor de Pingus is the second wine, coming from the Dominio de Pingus and neighbouring parcels acquired by fermage, 100% tempranillo aged 50 years, biodynamic since 2005. 4000 cases produced per year.
