In the category « Long keeping », we gather all the wines of the vintage 2017 that will have, according to us, an ageing potential of at least 20 years (even if they will reach their peak before). This category is thus intended for the (very) patient ones with a great cellar, or for those who will have something to celebrate in 20 years (or more).
The ability to age well is the preserve of the finest wines, but more affordable wines can also have a great ageing potential due to their excellent vineyards, the grapes varieties used or to the winemaker’s will. The ageing varies as well depending on the temperature of the cellar (the colder the cellar is, the slower the wine will age) and the bottle’s size (wines in large containers like magnums will age slower and longer than wines in bottles).

Bettane & Desseauve : 98-99/100 « Vin salivant, du nez au toucher de tannin, en passant par la finale monumentale qui reste élégante. Les caudalies sont infinies et durent plus d’une heure après la dégustation… Il y a tout dans ce vin, intensité tannique et structurelle, texture prégnante parfaitement tendue avec ce qu’il faut de satiné, et une fraîcheur superlative. »
Revue du Vin de France : 18,5-20/20 « Expression pure, concentrée, sans concession. Les tanins très présents, mais parfaitement ordonnés, ne masquent pas la grande douceur du fruit. Grand vin de garde. »

Quarin : 99/100 « Ultra minutieux dès son entrée en bouche, très fondant, juteux et noble au toucher, le vin évolue dense, puissant, tannique aussi, sur des saveurs de fruits bien mûrs. S'en suit une très longue finale complexe, au grain raffiné. C'est superbe ! »

In 2004, Jean-Michel Chartron gave a new impetus to his estate, with the chance to have an extraordinary land heritage (the Clos des Chevaliers is the best part of the Chevalier-Montrachet, itself considered the best grand cru in Puligny after Montrachet). Mineral, nervous, powerful and long, its wines are among the greatest in Puligny. Rated two stars in the 2019 Revue du Vin de France guide.
Jean-Michel Chartron was doubly elected "Winegrower of the Year": in the magazine "Bourgogne Aujourd'hui" in March 2018 and in the Hachette guide in September 2018.

The rarest cuvée from the Tardieu-Laurent cellar (not produced in 2012 and 2013), from Syrah aged 80 to 100 years and more. Intensely peppery and tight, a great bottle for keeping.

A new cuvée created in 2017, a Côte-Rôtie from the heart of the hillside on the major terroirs of the Côte Brune. Phenomenal concentration, energetic tannin, a compact but refined wine, to wait at least 10 years before considering tasting.
100% serine (small syrah) aged 60 years and over, on 3 terroirs of Côte Brune : Landonne, Lancement, Chavaroche. Vinification 100% harvest not destemmed, maturing 12 months in new and one wine barrels then 12 months in tuns. No fining, no filtering.
In addition to his classic Châteauneuf-du-Pape, Michel Tardieu produces a cuvée Vieilles Vignes, a blend of grenache (80%, 80 to over 100 years), mourvèdre (10%, 60 to 80 years) and syrah (10%, 50 years), more tense and spicier (pepper, clove, laurel), an interminable finish, a wine of great style and long ageing potential.
80% Grenache (vines aged from 80 to over 100 years), 10% Mourvèdre (60 to 80 years), 10% Syrah (50 years) and blending 5 terroirs: La Crau, Les Gardioles, La Janasse, Coste Froide and Bois Dauphin. Vinification 1/3 harvest not destemmed, maturing 12 months in barrels of a wine, then 12 months in tuns. No fining, no filtration.
Amazing story as that of Dominio de Pingus. Created in 1995 by Peter Sisseck, a Danish (!), this estate a few kilometres from Vega Sicilia has become a cult in less than 15 years.
Pingus is the great wine, made from the 4 ha of the estate, 100% tempranillo aged 70 years, biodynamic since 2000. 450 cases per year (an average yield of 10hl/ha, not counting small vintages, such as the 2002, totally downgraded in Flor de Pingus).
