The star of Graves blancs, offering each vintage a very pure and straightforward wine, discreetly woody. It is not surprising to see this regularity in performance, as it is the own property of the late Denis Dubourdieu. Favourite Hachette in 2014.

    Bettane & Desseauve :
Revue du Vin de France :
    Dupont (Le Point) :
Martin (Vinous) : 90-92/100 « Wonderful. The palate is well balanced with a fine bead of acidity, slightly tangy in the mouth and impressive depth and vigour on the finish. Excellent. »

The dry white wine of Lagrange, in a precise and pleasant style. As always in Lagrange, the quality/price ratio is there!

    Bettane & Desseauve :
Revue du Vin de France :
    Dupont (Le Point) :
Martin (Vinous) : 89/100 « The 2019 Les Arums de Lagrange, the white cuvée from the Saint-Julien estate, offers attractive lime and yellow flower scents, a touch of almond in the background. The palate is nicely balanced with a dab of lemongrass on the entry. Moderate weight with discrete tropical notes sing from the wings on the finish. »

Property awakened in 2011 by the arrival of son Paul Garcin, ex rock musician of the Bordeaux scene. Instant passage to organic farming, artist wines, intuitive, immediately sapid, tasty and with a strong note of pleasure, white as well as red.

    Bettane & Desseauve :
    Dupont (Le Point) :

Based on Sauvignon (with a hint of Semillon), Caillou Blanc has been presented for 50 years as the archetype of Médoc dry white wine: pale colour, between delicate freshness and aromatic distinction (citrus fruits, bitter orange, honeysuckle), never too full or demonstrative. And always reasonably positioned in terms of price.

    Bettane & Desseauve :
Revue du Vin de France :
    Dupont (Le Point) :

The great white wine of Ch. Valandraud, with a sparkling sap and balance. With only 4000 bottles produced, it is a nugget that will do wonders on the table in 5 years (to take advantage of its youthful brilliance) or in 15 years.

    Bettane & Desseauve : 95/100
Revue du Vin de France :
    Dupont (Le Point) :
Bravo ! »
Galloni (Vinous) : 91-93/100 « The 2019 Valandraud Blanc is a bright, crisp and finely cut wine of energy and tension. Time in the glass brings out the wine's textural depth and creaminess. Green apple, mint, white flowers and sage add freshness and brilliance. »
Martin (Vinous) : 92-94/100 « The palate is fresh on the entry with a fine bead of acidity. This is where there is a major, tangible difference with the Virginie as there is more depth and complexity here, offering a lovely, caressing, creamy finish with a hint of ginger on the aftertaste. Excellent. »

The dry white wine of Mouton-Rothschild, very confidential (1000 cases produced per year).

    Bettane & Desseauve : 93/100
Revue du Vin de France :
    Dupont (Le Point) :
Galloni (Vinous) : 91-93/100 « The 2019 Aile d'Argent, Mouton Rothschild's white is laced with hints of pineapple, mint, white flowers, apple and lemon confit. In 2019, Aile d'Argent is distinguished by its energy, even with a touch of malolactic fermentation, and a bit more restraint than in the past, all huge positives. »
Martin (Vinous) : 90-92/100 « The palate is well balanced with a brisk, sharp opening, moderate weight, good tension with a touch of bitter lemon neatly counterbalancing the richness, whilst a potent spicy stem ginger note rounds things off nicely. »

The white wine of Smith Haut Lafitte has built up a solid reputation over the last 10 years, even if it is not a grand cru classé (but Haut-Brion blanc and Pape-Clément blanc are not either). A happy marriage of wood and fruit, it always delivers a beautiful aromatic complexity, from lime blossom to citrus, and a lively, rich and fine structure. 2017 was rated 19/20 by the Revue du Vin de France "one of the most complete and accomplished wines ever tasted. The depth, complexity of flavor and length are truly impressive. It will go very far".

    Bettane & Desseauve : 95-96/100
Bravo ! »
Galloni (Vinous) : 92-94/100 « Orchard fruit, mint, white flowers, lemon confit and white pepper confer briskness to a white that nicely balances the natural richness of the year with freshness that comes from picking on the early side. »
Martin (Vinous) : 94-96/100 « It is not the most complex white Smith Haut Lafitte that I have tasted, yet it is full of tension with subtle spicy notes of ginger and lemongrass that enliven the persistent finish. There is a brightness and sophistication to this wine that is very persuasive. Superb. »

Doisy-Daëne is never the sweetest wine in its sector, but it always has an unparalleled aromatic expression and refinement. A pure Barsac, brilliantly orchestrated by Denis Dubourdieu (deceased in 2016).

    Bettane & Desseauve : 96/100
Dupont (Le Point) : 18/20 « Agrumes, fruits jaunes, safran; bouche juteuse, complexe, finale poivre blanc.»
Grande longueur. Du beau travail. »
Galloni (Vinous) : 93-95/100 « Rich and yet also wonderfully light on its feet, the 2019 is hauntingly beautiful and impeccable in its balance. »

Administered by the Rothschilds (Mouton) since 1996, Coutet has joined the leading pack of the biggest Sauternes after Yquem. Like Climens, it is a true Barsac, pure and remarkably subtle, but with a more marked liquor. Since 2005, Coutet has been in great shape! Rated 19/20 by the Revue du Vin de France in 2017 and 19.5/20 in 2016.

    Bettane & Desseauve : 93-94/100
Galloni (Vinous) : 87-90/100 « The 2019 is very pretty but a bit eccentric, especially in its aromatics »
Martin (Vinous) : 94-96/100 « The 2019 Coutet has a luscious bouquet with scents of dried honey, honeysuckle and orange pith, intense and well defined. The palate is built around Coutet's trademark line of acidity, an underlying zestiness cutting through the unctuous honeyed fruit with a welcome orange rind and marmalade note on the persistent finish. Excellent. »

Galloni (Vinous) : 94-96/100 « What I like most about Suduiraut is how it delivers superb flavor intensity and yet remains light on its feet. The 2019 is a gorgeous and totally compelling wine. »
Martin (Vinous) : 95-97/100 « A powerful and intense Sauternes in the making with layers of honey, ginger and quince. You could almost describe the texture as "gloopy"! This is a superb Suduiraut with long-term potential. »

    Bettane & Desseauve : 92-93/100
Revue du Vin de France :
    Dupont (Le Point) :
Galloni (Vinous) : 90-92/100 « The 2019 Dalem is a racy, sumptuous wine with no hard edges, tons of fruit density and impeccable balance. [...] The 2019 is impressive. Its as simple as that. »
Martin (Vinous) : 93-95/100 « The palate is well balanced with supple tannins, pin-point acidity and a harmonious, satin-textured finish that is pure delight. One of the best Dalems ever produced. Bravo. »

Begun in 2003, the Clos Louie adventure is a textbook case: doll vineyard (2.3 ha) on a beautiful clayey-limestone soil of Castillon, careful cultivation in biodynamics, double manual sorting during the harvest, vinification with little intervention, gentle maturing in half-masses of 500 litres. Louison et Léopoldine is the other wine from Clos Louie, made from the youngest vines (50 years old all the same), giving pride of place to Cabernet-Franc for a brilliant fruity taste and the promise of a quick-lasting gourmet pleasure.

Selection of the best parcels of Château de Carles (10 ha out of the 20 ha of the estate), certainly the finest and most ambitious wine of Fronsac, making since 2000 equal game with the best classified growths of the slopes of Saint-Émilion.

    Bettane & Desseauve :  93-94/100
Revue du Vin de France :
    Dupont (Le Point) :
Galloni (Vinous) : 90-92/100 « The 2019 Haut-Carles is a fabulous expression of Fronsac. Rich and resonant, the 2019 possesses striking depth from start to finish. Inky dark fruit, bittersweet chocolate, espresso, licorice and spice add character in an opulent, flamboyant wine. »
Martin (Vinous) : 91-93/100 « The palate is well balanced with fine grain tannins, well judged acidity. A harmonious Fronsac with a smooth texture that glides across the finish. This is a very well crafted Fronsac, though it needs 5-6 years in bottle. »

Mr. Durantou (owner of Église-Clinet who died in 2020) produced only 1500 cases per year of his remarkable Lalande de Pomerol Les Cruzelles. This was far superior to the neighbouring Pomerol of the same price.

    Bettane & Desseauve :
Revue du Vin de France :
    Dupont (Le Point) :
Galloni (Vinous) : 92-94/100 « The 2019 Les Cruzelles is a big wine. Black cherry, gravel, smoke, licorice and new leather blast out of the glass. Dizzyingly intense and deep, with equally potent tannins, Les Cruzelles is fabulous in 2019. »
Martin (Vinous) : 91-93/100 « The palate is medium-bodied with dark berry fruit mixed with dried orange peel and a pinch of sea salt. This has so much character and personality, the salinity on the finish lingers wonderfully. »

Applying the same principles of cultivation and vinification as in Angelus, Hubert de Boüard brought his Château de Lalande de Pomerol to the top of his appellation. Rich and luxuriously aged wines, of incredible charm, with each vintage praised by critics.

Revue du Vin de France :
    Dupont (Le Point) :
Super Outsider rive droite ! »
Galloni (Vinous) : 91-93/100 « The 2019 La Fleur de Boüard is a dark, sumptuous beauty. The finish is deep and substantial, adding to an impression of real gravitas. I was quite impressed with La Fleur de Boüard this year. »
Martin (Vinous) : 92-94/100 « The palate is medium-bodied with lithe tannins, smooth and silky from tip to toe with a lush, well defined, lightly spiced finish that is a joy. Excellent. »

Mr Derenoncourt, Bordeaux's most sought-after consultant, is also a producer. Obviously, he (with his wife) applies in his vineyards the methods that have made his success: respect for the terroir and biotope, subtle vinification and maturation, wines of great aromatic precision.

    Bettane & Desseauve : 92/100
Revue du Vin de France :
    Dupont (Le Point) :
Galloni (Vinous) : 92-94/100 « The 2019 Domaine de l'A is a wine of extreme purity and class. Long, nuanced, and elegantly spun, the 2019 impresses with its exquisite beauty and total class. Silky tannins wrap around a core of fruit in this striking mid-weight wine. One of the recent developments here is an increase in Cabernet Franc. »

With 12 hectares cultivated in biodynamic farming, certified since the 2007 vintage, Clos Puy-Arnaud is one of the great Côtes de Castillon wines that have nothing to envy to neighbouring Saint-Émilion.

"Grand Vin", the uncompromising cuvée that has made the estate's reputation, authentic, straight and deep, classic, spicy and cut out for keeping.

    Bettane & Desseauve :
Revue du Vin de France :
    Dupont (Le Point) :
Galloni (Vinous) : 92-94/100 « The 2019 Clos Puy Arnaud is dazzling. Rich, inky and wonderfully deep, the 2019 has so much to offer. I can't remember a recent Clos Puy Arnaud with this much density and sheer textural intensity. Inky dark fruit, crème de cassis, violets and licorice all build as this sumptuous, exotically rich Castillon Côtes De Bordeaux shows off its personality. What a wine! »
Martin (Vinous) : 85-87/100 « The 2019 Puy Arnaud has a lovely ripe nose with mulberry and raspberry preserve, generous and well defined. [...] Whilst the aromatics are promising, the palate lacks structure and grip and drifts towards the finish. »

    Dupont (Le Point) :
Martin (Vinous) : 90-92/100 « I find this very cohesive and well balanced, just a touch of spicebox coming through on the finish. As usual, I bet this is one of the best values once released. »
