bottle 75cl: 90,00 €bottle 75cl

Bought in 1986 by the AXA group, initially under the leadership of Mr. Cazes (Lynch-Bages), Pichon-Longueville Baron regained its best form in the powerful and distinguished style of the great Pauillac. Pour La Revue du Vin de France « une matière, une densité, une profondeur hors norme. Un vin vibrant et terriblement persistant. » noté 19/20

Ideally located on the plateau of Mouton, next to prestigious classified growths such as Armailhac, Clerc-Milon and Pontet-Canet, Pibran belongs to the insurer AXA and benefits from the expertise of the Pichon-Baron technical team (same owner, AXA vignobles). There are only a few crus bourgeois left in Pauillac, Pibran is by far the best of them!

While Pibran wines generally have a fleshy body and a bright fruit, the 2016 vintage transcends these qualities. It is considered as the best ever made by Jean-Marc Quarin and Neal Martin.

New denomination of the second wine of Pichon-Baron from the 2012 vintage, undoubtedly at the level of the 5th growths of Pauillac. Its 2016 is in the image of the great wine: pure and vigorous, racy and powerful, promised to a beautiful and long keeping, whereas the 2017 is all in harmony, tender, delicate and already appreciable.

Rated 91/100 by Neal Martin after bottling « There is a sense of reserve about this Les Griffons and it will need time to subsume the 60% new oak. It does not quite "kick on" towards the finish and prefers to play it safe. » (February 2020)

Rated 92/100 by Antonio Galloni after bottling « The 2017 Les Griffons de Pichon-Baron is a powerful, serious wine endowed with tremendous character and personality. It is especially somber in this vintage, with tannins that need time to soften. » (March 2020)

Rated 94+/100 by Antonio Galloni after bottling « The 2017 Pichon-Baron has developed into a potent wine, even by its own standards. Black cherry, plum, chocolate, grilled herbs, licorice, new leather and spice all flesh out in a succulent Pauillac that shows the racier personality of the year. » (March 2020)

Rated 90/100 by Neal Martin after bottling « The palate is medium-bodied with gentle grip, fine acidity, a touch of savoriness infusing the red fruit. What it is missing is a little length and persistence on the finish. » (February 2020)

Rated 94/100 by Antonio Galloni after bottling « The 2017 Petit-Village is all class. Sweet floral notes and silky tannins give the 2017 striking nuance and finesse to match its mid-weight personality. Time in the glass brings out the wine's textural depth and structure nicely. » (March 2020)
