The 2021 vintage is rated 92/100 A. Galloni "The Gravette de Certan 2021 is 100% Merlot from the estate's youngest vines. Supple, soft and quite accessible, the 2021 is a pleasant wine to drink now and over the next decade. Juicy red/purple fruit, lavender, mocha and spice are to the fore." (February 2024)

Vieux Château Certan is certainly, with a high proportion of Cabernet Franc (30% on average), the most classic, firm and distinguished Pomerol wine. It does not have the softness and immediate charm of other great Pomerol, but still keeps all these promises as it ages. Very classy!
The 2021 vintage is rated 98/100 by A. Galloni "The Vieux Château Certan 2021 could well be the wine of the vintage for the Right Bank. Intensely aromatic and nuanced, with exceptional balance, the 2021 is super class right from the start. Naturally, it doesn't have the richness or density of most previous vintages, but it more than makes up for it with its sublime harmony and overall freshness. All the elements are so well proportioned." (February 2024)
Also rated 96/100 by N. Martin "Graphite, pencil shavings, tobacco and light gravelly aromas seep through the black fruit. This is a resolutely classic style. The palate is exquisitely balanced and harmonious, with a perfect line of acidity. There's a linearity that suits VCC's Pomerol style and a wonderful salinity on the finish that lingers. This transcends the limitations of the growing season. Exceptional." (February 2024)
