PSI (Peter Sisseck Initiative?) is the wine of a group of producers brought together by Mr. Sisseck according to precise specifications: tempranillo plots at least 30 years old, necessarily biodynamically grown, gentle extractions, long macerations and maturing practically without wood. A superior fruity wine, fine and with a great tannic softness.
Vinous (J. Hidalgo) : 96-98/100 « The 2023 PSI brings together fruit from 12 Villages, mostly Gumiel de Mercado and Villatuelda in the Soria sector of Ribera del Duero. The project began in 2007 with the recorvery of neglected vineyards, now totaling 200 hectares across about 700 parcels, 25% of which are estate-owned. Garnet colored, it opens with pine and herbal notes, then red fruit-cherry and a touch of plum. The palate shows fine-grained tannins, a midweight texture and detailed fruit. The bottle will reveal the Soria character. »
Amazing story as that of Dominio de Pingus. Created in 1995 by Peter Sisseck, a Danish (!), this estate a few kilometres from Vega Sicilia has become a cult in less than 15 years.
Flor de Pingus is the second wine, coming from the Dominio de Pingus and neighbouring parcels acquired by fermage, 100% tempranillo 35 to 50 years old, biodynamic since 2005. Delicious and elegant, Flor is a modern vision of Ribera del Duero.
Vinous (J. Hidalgo) : 94-95/100 "The 2023 Flor de Pingus is made from over 20 hectares of old Tinta del País vines and 15 hectares of Gamacha in Ribera del Duero. It was aged in 10-15% new oak. Violets, fresh plum and delicate touch of oak open on the nose. Fine-grained reactive tannins define the texture. A red with charming nuances and evolving character."
Amazing story as that of Dominio de Pingus. Created in 1995 by Peter Sisseck, a Danish (!), this estate a few kilometres from Vega Sicilia has become a cult in less than 15 years.
Pingus is the great wine, made from the 4 ha of the estate, 100% tempranillo aged 70 years, biodynamic since 2000. 450 cases per year (an average yield of 10hl/ha, not counting small vintages, such as the 2002, totally downgraded in Flor de Pingus).
Vinous (J. Hidalgo) : 96-98/100 "The 2023 Pingus, from old vineyards in the Burgos area of Ribera del Duero on limestone and gravel soils, was aged entirely in used oak. Aromas include black fruit, underbrush, blood orange, cherry and sour cherry. Juicy and vibrant, The palate has a calcareous, chalky texture and impressive length. Chalk shapes an expressive finish. This is wine will refine beautifully in bottle."
