Stéphane Dief, owner of Clos Manou, had long dreamed of producing a great dry white wine on his terroir at the northern tip of the Médoc, a region particularly suited to the slow maturation of white grapes thanks to its eminently temperate climate (bordered to the west by the Atlantic Ocean and to the east by the Gironde estuary). This dream became a reality in 2020 with the creation of Clos Albus in Valeyrac, a 1.85-hectare plot planted with Sauvignon Blanc, Sémillon, and Muscadelle.
The 2023 vintage is its first, composed of 54% Sauvignon Blanc, 39% Sémillon, and 7% Muscadelle, a magnificent white wine of crystalline purity, sleek and precise, blending floral aromas (acacia and broom) with light vanilla notes (from fermentation and aging on lees in French oak barrels).
