Château POUJEAUX Red 2025 Futures

Bought in 2008 by M. Cuvelier (Clos Fourtet), a new era is beginning at Poujeaux under the leadership of Messrs Thienpont and Derenoncourt.

With its racy elegance, natural velvetiness and delicate yet deep texture, Poujeaux is the most Saint-Julien of the Moulis wines, and a model of style for all the crus bourgeois of the Médoc. The vintage is making steady progress, as evidenced by the 94/100 rating awarded by the Revue du Vin de France for its 2020 vintage « voilà un vin très séveux et prometteur ».

Vinous (A. Galloni) : 92-95/100 "The 2025 Poujeaux is fabulous. Right out of the gate, it offers superb fruit intensity and plenty of structure to match. Dark blue and black-toned fruit, grilled herbs, menthol, lavender and licorice infuse the palate with tremendous depth. Broad swaths of tannin add to an impression of somber intensity. Yields were just 27 hectoliters per hectare. That, along with a higher percentage of Cabernet Sauvignon vis-à-vis most years, has resulted in an especially potent Poujeaux."

Vinous (N. Martin) : 92-94/100 "The 2025 Poujeaux, [...] has a well-defined bouquet with black fruit tinged with freshly shucked oyster shell. Classical in style, honed and focused. The palate is medium-bodied with quite rounded, malleable tannins. Fine acidity, black fruit in the driving seat, with more red fruit emerging towards the refined finish. This is a superb Moulis that will age for many years."

La Revue du Vin de France : 92-93 “The nose, refined and elegant, opens with a distinct expression of fresh red fruits, enhanced by a delicate floral note. The palate captivates with its silky texture, combining finesse with perfectly controlled density. The balance is spot on, supported by a refined and harmonious structure. The finish, classic and very elegant, lingers delicately and pleasantly extends the aftertaste.

Bettane+Desseauve : 91-92/100 “Precise and harmonious, this vintage ranks among the estate’s finest recent releases. Its overall balance and the quality of its bouquet are impressive.”

J-M Quarin: 91/100 “Deep, intense, and beautiful color. A very aromatic nose with subtle, ripe fruit notes. Meticulous on the attack, subtle on the mid-palate, and with a lovely texture, the wine develops into a flavorful, aromatic, and long finish, with a touch of firmness.”
