Château d'YQUEM 1er grand cru classé 2016 ½ bottle 37.5cl

½ bottle 37.5cl: 163,33 €½ bottle 37.5cl

The most mythical vintage of Bordeaux, among all! Already, in 1855, it was the only cru to be recognized as a premier cru classé supérieur, placing it above the red premiers crus classés.

» (Septembre 2023)

The 2016 vintage is rated 100/100 by the Guide Hachette 2021 "The 2016 has left behind the pastry notes of its youth to focus on citron and tangerine flavours. Its power settles confidently into a pure fruit, nourished by a fleshy liqueur, which lends a masterly balance to this vintage which is also at the top."

The 2020 vintage was awarded a "coup de ♥" by the Guide Hachette 2024 "a particularly expressive 2020, very floral and fruity (exotic fruit, citrus, peach, apricot, fresh almond, etc.)"

The 2020 vintage is rated 98/100 by the Revue du Vin de France "Its sumptuous fragrance is reminiscent of tangerine. It coats the palate with a sensation of tangy candy. Suave but weightless, it is balanced by a smooth ageing process that gives it length." (December 2023).

» (Nov. 2021)

The 2005 vintage is rated 99/100 by J-M Quarin "Golden colour. Great intense nose, fine, subtle, noble. It is that of a great white wine. [...] With a thousand complex nuances on the mid-palate, followed by great textural precision, the wine gently fades away on the finish. Then there's a long, fresh, flowery, subtly roasted finish. An angel is passing by". (May 2023)

Second wine of Cheval Blanc. Elegant, refined in fruit and texture, the airy balance and harmony of its 2009 make this wine obvious. As the young vines that make up Le Petit Cheval age, they are gradually being integrated into the grand vin, leading to the disappearance of the second wine by 2030.

Neither quite Saint-Émilion nor quite Pomerol, the inimitable Cheval Blanc occupies a special place on the right bank, on the famous gravelly terroir of the Figeac plateau. Inimitable because its wines subjugate in a perfect alchemy between freshness, subtlety and hedonism, the whole on tannic frames at the same time refined and melting, between silk and cashmere.

The 2020 vintage was awarded a "coup de ♥" by the Guide Hachette 2024 "an imposing volume, a rich and dense tannic structure but with an incomparable, crystalline finesse".

The 2020 vintage is rated 98/100 by La Revue du Vin de France "A magnificent velvety texture envelops the palate from the outset, the heart and finish link with fullness in a whole gracefully stretched by dynamic tannins of immense delicacy." (September 2023)

Refined on the palate, juicy in the middle, particularly aromatic and complex, with a lot of brightness in the flavour, the wine evolves long, juicy, with a meticulous tannic texture and a very noble flavour. It's unputdownable." (November 2019)
