Champagne ÉGLY-OURIET Les Vignes de Bisseuil 1er cru ---- bottle 75cl

bottle 75cl: 72,50 € incl. VATbottle 75cl

A precise and meticulous worker, Francis Égly is at the top of the Champagne world. With his vineyards magnificently situated in grand cru (pinot noir and chardonnay in Ambonnay, Bouzy and Verzenay) and premier cru (in Vrigny and Bisseuil), he makes wines of prodigious vinosity, intensity and nobility of character, always on the razor's edge between the great ripeness of the grapes and a fine chalky minerality. All his vintages are vinified in wood, without malolactic fermentation. The critics are enthusiastic, such as M. Bettane, who says that "Égly-Ouriet sets the tone for all Champagne viticulture with vintages of staggering depth".
Starting with the admirable flagship Brut Grand Cru, barely dosed (1g/l), slender and rich, with hints of iodine accompanying a fine bitterness.

Égly-Ouriet has been rewarded with its fourth star in the Revue du Vin de France's 2025 guide.

An exception to the range, Les Vignes de Bisseuil is a blend of predominantly Chardonnay (70%) with Pinot Noir and Pinot Meunier (15% each).

The “Les Vignes de Bisseuil” vintage in the press :

La Revue du Vin de France (Guide 2027) : 93/100 “With 70 per cent Chardonnay, Les Vignes de Bisseuil is a particularly fine wine.”

Vinous (A. Galloni - Mai 2026) : 90/100 "Les Vignes de Bisseuil is laced with hints of white orchard fruit, mint, white pepper, chalk, dried herbs and dried citrus peel. Airy and weightless in feel, this opens nicely with a bit of aeration. The style is one that favors tension and energy more than anything else."

Created in 2020, the “Les Prémices” cuvée is a perfect entry-level wine—fresh and elegant. Originally a blend of three grape varieties in equal parts, the proportion of Pinot Meunier will increase starting in 2023 following the purchase of an additional 4 hectares in Trigny (Saint-Thierry massif).

The “Les Prémices” vintage in the press :

La Revue du Vin de France (Guide 2027) : 91/100 “The estate demonstrates remarkable consistency. The progress shown by the Prémices is a perfect illustration of this: this cuvée has found its feet and continues to gain in precision and depth with each vintage.”

Vinous (A. Galloni - May 2026) : 91/100 "The NV (2021) Extra Brut Les Prémices bristles with tension and energy. Dried orchard fruit, crushed flowers, mint and chalk race through to the intense, salivating finish. There’s plenty of vibrancy, but in this tasting, the Prémices feels just a bit dry."

The Grand Cru Blanc de Noirs comes from an old Pinot Noir vineyard, planted in 1946. The vines are deeply rooted in the chalk (the locality is called "Les Crayères"), which is only 30 cm above ground level.

The Cuvée "Les Crayères Blanc de Noirs" in the press:

La Revue du Vin de France (Guide 2027) : 100/100 Coup de ♥ “The magic really comes to life with Les Crayères Blanc de Noirs, half of which is made from the 2018 and 2017 vintages. The Pinot Noir is at its very best here, offering body, density and depth; the balance remains exemplary and the finish is remarkable.”

A precise and meticulous winemaker, Francis Égly is at the pinnacle of the Champagne region. With his beautifully situated vineyards in Grand Cru (Pinot Noir and Chardonnay in Ambonnay, Bouzy, and Verzenay) and Premier Cru (in Vrigny and Bisseuil) appellations, he crafts wines of extraordinary vinosity, intensity, and noble character, always walking a fine line between the full ripeness of the grapes and a delicate, chalky minerality. All of his cuvées are vinified in oak and without malolactic fermentation. Critics are enthusiastic; as Mr. Bettane puts it, “Égly-Ouriet sets the standard for all Champagne winemaking with crus of astral depth.” Égly-Ouriet earned its fourth star in the 2025 edition of the Revue du Vin de France guide.

The estate’s first Blanc de Blancs, the Les Bussets cuvée, comes from an exceptional Chardonnay vineyard planted in 1902 on the eponymous plot in Verzy. Aged in barrels and made exclusively from the 2018 harvest, it was aged for seven years before disgorgement, revealing the full character of this terroir (classified as Grand Cru).

Orchard fruit, white pepper, mint, chalk, dried herbs, tangerine oil and crushed rocks all race across the palate. This is an especially taut, salivating vintage for the Millésime. A kiss of French oak lingers on the close."
