In 2004, Jean-Michel Chartron gave new impetus to the family domaine, blessed with an extraordinary land heritage (Clos des Chevaliers is the best part of Chevalier-Montrachet, itself considered the best climat in Puligny after Montrachet). Vinous (N. Martin): 88/100 "The 2024 Rully Montmorin includes 10% new barrels, half in wood and the rest in stainless steel. This has a lilting nose with light mango and Clementine scents, well defined as usual. The palate is fresh on the entry with a keen line of acidity. There is a brightness to this Rully that I like, and it feels reassuringly precise on the finish."
In 2004, Jean-Michel Chartron gave a new impetus to the family estate, with the chance to have an extraordinary land heritage (the Clos des Chevaliers is the best part of the Chevalier-Montrachet, itself considered the best grand cru in Puligny after Montrachet). Mineral, nervous, powerful and long, its wines are among the greatest in Puligny. Rated one star in the Revue du Vin de France guide.
Appointment : Jean-Michel Chartron was doubly elected "Winegrower of the Year": in the magazine "Bourgogne Aujourd'hui" in March 2018 and in the Hachette guide in September 2018.
Vinous (N. Martin): 88-90/100 "The 2024 Savigny-lès-Beaune Blanc comprises five barrels this year. Lemon curd and light orange pith scents on the nose, this has a little more depth than the previous vintage. The palate is quite flinty on the entry. Bright acidity, plenty of energy, this should drink well for several years."

Vinous (N. Martin): 89-91/100 "There are five barrels of the 2024 Santenay Les Pierres Sèches this year. Grapefruit, orange pith and apricot unfold on the nose, which has pleasing purity of fruit. The palate is well balanced with nicely integrated wood, a keen line of acidity and a nice edginess towards the finish. This might surpass the previous vintage."

The palate is fresh and vibrant with a silver thread of acidity. Quite a "fluid" Saint-Aubin, even if it needs just a little more persistence. Give it a year in bottle."

The palate is fresh and crisp with citrus peel, orange pith and a little spice. Very pretty, very elegant with a nicely focused finish this punches above its weight."

Vinous (N. Martin): 90-92/100 "The 2024 Puligny-Montrachet Village is a blend of owned and exchanged fruit. This has another bright and quite minty bouquet that soars from the glass. Plenty of energy. The palate is fresh and vibrant, fine weight, quite tensile with plenty of mineralité on the finish. Classically styled Puligny that will give a lot of pleasure."
Vinous (N. Martin): 92-94/100 "The 2024 Puligny-Montrachet les Folatières 1er Cru has a very fragrant bouquet with yellow fruit, white flowers, a touch of mint and even a suggestion of red fruit. The palate is medium-bodied with a keen line of acidity. Very precise, certainly more mineral-driven than the "sunnier" 2023 - this has great potential."

Vinous (N. Martin): 90-92/100 "The 2024 Puligny-Montrachet Clos de la Pucelle 1er Cru was coming out to play when I visited the Domaine, the nose obstinate and backward. The palate is crisp on the entry, quite malic with cooking apple and notes of pear, moderate depth and a dash of spice on the finish. Fine, but it needs to find its groove."

Vinous (N. Martin): 93-95/100 "The 2024 Puligny-Montrachet Clos du Cailleret 1er Cru has a little more precision and detail compared to the Clos du Cailleret this year. Touches of Conference pear and orange pith and a hint of candle wax on the nose. The palate is well balanced with crisp acidity, quite dainty and elegant yet there is real cohesion and precision towards the finish. This is very classy."

Vinous (N. Martin): 92-94/100 "The 2024 Bâtard-Montrachet Grand Cru comprises four barrels this year. Harvested a little later, it has a touch more tropical tones on the nose yet there is still admirable mineralité and tension. The palate is vibrant on the entry, quite strict and linear, more malic on the palate than on the nose with a dash of spice that comes through on the finish. Good potential, though in some ways quite uncompromising."

Vinous (N. Impressive delineation here. The palate is very well balanced with spot-on acidity, bright and vivacious, though very complex with a mineral-driven finish that is top notch. Certainly this is as good as the 2023. Excellent."
