Second wine of Ducru-Beaucaillou. As for the other wines made by Bruno Borie (Le Petit Ducru and Ducru-Beaucaillou), La Croix Ducru-Beaucaillou has considerably progressed since 2003 to the point of becoming a direct rival of the 3rd/4th classified growths of St-Julien. Moreover, it now benefits from a contribution of vines purchased from Château Terrey-Gros-Cailloux.
Bettane & Desseauve : 93-94/100 « Épatant par son éclat, ses notes épicées et de cèdre, sa tenue en bouche et sa promesse de garde. Un des sommets de sa catégorie. »
Vinous (A. Galloni): 90-92/100 "The 2024 La Croix Ducru-Beaucaillou is an absolute delight. Pliant and supple, with gorgeous mid-palate creaminess, the 2024 is accessible right out of the gate. Black cherry, plum, chocolate, new leather and spice all flesh out in the glass. Soft, succulent contours wrap it all together. There's terrific depth here, and plenty of substance too. This Merlot-based Saint-Julien offers tons of towards appeal."
Vinous (N. Martin): 91-93/100 "The 2024 La Croix Ducru-Beaucaillou has a precise bouquet with blackberry, wild strawberry and background slate-like aromas. This is finely focused, though more understated than recent vintages. The palate is medium-bodied and quite peppery, with grainy tannins, geltle grip and a slightly stony finish. This is a more linear and classically styled Deuxième Vin."
La Revue du Vin de France : 93-94/100 « Très belle signature des vignobles Borie au travers de ce vin plein, doté d’une matière soyeuse, avec des notes de fruits rouges et noirs juteux, apportées par de beaux merlots. Il persiste longuement. »
