Neighbour of Palmer and 3rd Grand Cru Classé like him, Issan offers wines that are clearly different, straighter and crisper. Since 2004, Issan wines have grown in size and body without losing their elegance or denying their Margalais origins.
J-M Quarin: 97/100 “A deep red colour with black highlights. An intense, fruity and profound nose. Full-bodied on the attack and immediately juicy, with class as it unfolds and plenty, plenty of flavour; the wine lingers, then blossoms on the finish. It ends on a deep and noble note, with an incredible ease of power. Well done! I was already very impressed by the 2022. I consider this one slightly superior due to a more dynamic palate.”
La Revue du Vin de France : 94-96/100 “A truly fine wine; Issan captivates with its precise, juicy and vibrant fruit. The fine, silky texture complements a full-bodied palate that is well-balanced and elegantly lingering. A typical, harmonious Margaux.”
Vinous (A. Galloni): 94-96/100 “The 2025 Château d'Issan [...] has a quite beguiling bouquet, very pure blackberry and wild strawberry fruit, hints of cassis, replete with Margaux's violet signature. The oak is neatly integrated (50%). The palate is medium-bodied with fine tannins, plenty of tension and commendable minéralité. There is a transparency to this d'Issan that I really admire and it embodies the classicism that the season offered on the finish. One of the finest vintages in recent years and, hopefully, it will represent good value upon release.”
Vinous (N. Martin): 93-95/100 “The 2025 d'Issan is fabulous. Inky and racy to the core, the 2025 Issan has so much to offer. Crème de cassis, menthol, licorice, cloves, gravel and mocha all meld together in the glass. Sumptuous and seamless with exceptional balance, the 2025 is a real stunner. This is an especially dense d'Issan that reflects the intensity of the year.”
