Château COS LABORY 5ème grand cru classé 2025 Futures

Previously settled on firm tannins that made them stark in their youth, Cos Labory's wines have for the last ten years changed in style, becoming more pleasant and gaining in depth and refinement (its vineyard is adjacent to those of Lafite-Rothschild and Cos d'Estournel). “Probably the best value in the 1855 classification to date”, as Bettane & Desseauve (Guide 2025) points out.

The Audoy family having sold its vineyard to the neighboring Cos d'Estournel at the beginning of 2023, a new era begins at Cos Labory.

J-M Quarin: 95/100 “Deep black color. An intense, refined, fruity, and pure nose, evolving into delightful notes of black fruit rarely encountered before. Meticulously crafted on the palate, it is extremely aromatic, with a refined richness that coats the palate and a wealth of flavors; the wine finishes powerfully and deeply, with a magnificent finish. It’s superb!”

La Revue du Vin de France: 94–95/100 “The vintage is based on a significant proportion of Cabernet Franc (11%), which brings spice, crispness and finesse to this highly refined and subtle Cos Labory. A balanced, easy-drinking, composed and airy wine. Very precise on the finish."

Vinous (A. Galloni) : 91-93/100 "The 2025 Cos Labory represents another step forward under Michel Reybier's ownership. A dark, potent Saint-Estèphe, Cos Labory offers up an exotic mix of dark red-toned fruit, rose petal, blood orange, spice, bay leaf and tobacco. There's a bit more Cabernet Franc in the blend this year, which likely explains the wine's aromatic intensity and strong savory accents."

Bettane+Desseauve : 92/100 “Clean, precise and classic in style, this Saint-Estèphe confirms a standard of excellence that has been further raised since the change of ownership. It remains excellent value for money.”

Vinous (N. Martin) : 90-92/100 "The 2025 Cos Labory contains no Petit Verdot this year. It offers ripe black cherries and blueberry fruit on the nose, pressed violet and iris flower, a hint of wild mint. The palate is medium-bodied with sappy black fruit and fine acidity, the judicious 20% new oak neatly integrated. Certainly better than the 2024, afford this "useful Saint-Estèphe" three or four years in bottle."
