The terraces of Moulin Saint-Georges (7 ha) face those of Ausone (same owner). Thanks to the quality of its terroir and the refined style of its wines, Moulin Saint-Georges is a sure bet in the appellation. As the Revue du Vin de France's 2024 guide points out, "quality has been impressively consistent for over two decades, and prices remain reasonable. The only regret is the quantities available...".
Like all Vauthier vineyards (Ausone, La Clotte, Haut-Simard...), Moulin Saint-Georges began its conversion to organic farming in 2020.
J-M Quarin : 94/100 “Extremely delicate on the palate, very aromatic in the mid-palate, the wine develops without any harsh tannins, leading to a fragrant, long finish. A nuanced and very fine wine.”
Vinous (N. Martin) : 92-94/100 "The palate is medium-bodied, with pliant tannins, very pure and refined, more blueberry and cassis fruit coming through with a rounded, smooth finish that is oddly just a little Petit Verdot-like (none here, incidentally). This should age well in bottle, but will be seductive in its flush of youth."
Bettane+Desseauve : 92/100 “Dark fruits and peppery notes dominate a well-defined bouquet. The palate is balanced and full-bodied, yet remains elegant, even if one might expect more from this vintage.”
Vinous (A. Galloni) : 90-92/100 "The 2025 Moulin Saint-Georges is a delight. Plump and juicy, with lovely forward fruit, the 2025 offers up generous blue/purplish fruit, lavender, licorice, mint and cinnamon. Soft, supple curves add to its considerable appeal. This inviting Saint-Émilion is a total charmer. Best of all, it should drink well with minimal cellaring."
La Revue du Vin de France : 90-92/100 “The sunnier exposure lends the wine a sunny character, tempered by the site’s limestone terroir, offering hints of overripe fruit alongside crisper notes. This wine stands out above all for the refinement of its aromas, its generous body and the chalky finish.”
