Vinous (N.Martin - January 2024): 94+/100 “The 2020 Yquem has a slightly more Germanic nose than its peers, with a touch of petrol behind the veneer of dried honey, apricot and saffron. The palate is well balanced, with juste a little oak to be subsumed. It's very poised. Well-judged acidity drives through the harmonious finish. Give th three or four years in bottle for that wood to be assimilated, and you will have a sophisticated Sauternes on your hands ( and a score in line with the one tasted at the estate in 2023).”

J-M Quarin (September 2023): 98/100 “Pale color, with green highlights. Intense, fine, subtle, noble and complex nose. Immediately refined texture and feel on the palate. Full-bodied, airy, nuanced yet profound. Very long, slightly tannic finish. It's wonderful."

Vinous (N. Martin - February 2022): 95/100 "The 2016 Yquem was picked from 27 September until 4 November after drought-like conditions in the summer. It has an attractive nose with white chocolate, chamomile and Chinese white tea infusing the honeyed fruit. Very well defined and focused with cohesion than previous bottles. The palate is medium-bodied with a viscous opening that demonstrates a little more weight than the 2015, a fine bead of acidity and touches of ginger and lemongrass enlivening the finish. I feel this has gained a bit more complexity in recent years."

Hachette (Guide 2021): 100/100 “The 2016 has left behind the viennoiserie notes of its youth to refocus on tastes of citron and tangerine. Its power settles confidently into pure fruit, nourished by a fleshy liqueur, which lends masterly balance to this vintage, which is also at the top.”

Vinous (N. Martin - February 2024): 95+/100 “The 2014 Yquem has a potent nose with yellow plum, tangerine, peach and honey, exuberant and with plenty of botrytis. There is a real presence in this wine. The palate is well balanced with an unctuous entry and a keen thread of acidity, effervescent with blood orange, white peaches and pineapple toward the finish. Very persistent in the mouth, this is clearly an excellent Sauternes that consantly improves in the glass.”

La Revue du Vin de France (July - August 2025): 99/100 "The freshness of the fruity expression is dazzling: lots of citrus fruit, barely candied zest, apricot and peach at the height of their sensuality, a strong exotic tone too, passion fruit, mango.... A masterly balance on the palate (with the vivacity of the 2021) that energises an intense liqueur that is still very young."

Vinous (N. Martin - May 2023): 92/100 “The 2013 Yquem is consistent with previous encounters. It has a fresh nose thanks to the contribution of the 30% Sauvignon Blanc, not as complex as other vintages, yet delineated with lemon rind and lychee hints bubbling up with time in the glass. The palate is medium-bodied with a keen line of acidity, pure and beautifully integrated with the oak, yet missing the complexity of a top-flight Yquem.”

It just needs a little more delineation. The palate is very well balanced with a fine bead of acidity, lightly spiced and impressive focus. J-M Quarin (March 2026): 90/100 "Dark, intense and vivid colour. Very aromatic, fruity, smooth and fresh nose. Even more fruity and pure when swirled in the glass. Pulpy on the palate, delightful in the middle, with elegance in texture and flavour, the wine melts into a long, sappy and even fragrant finish. A remarkable finish with no tannicity."

Vinous (A. Galloni - January 2025): 93/100 "The 2022 Le Pin Beausoleil is elegant, lifted and wonderfully gracious from start to finish. Crushed rose petal, mint, orange peel, sage and mint lend an exotic flair to the bouquet. Silky and vibrant on the palate, with gorgeous translucence, the 2022 is sublime. There's a bit of grippiness on the finish, but that's nothing that a bit of time in bottle won't take care of. Le Pin Beausoleil seems to be moving toward a style of greater freshness and vibrancy than in the past."

Vinous (A. Galloni - January 2022): 92/100 "The 2019 Le Pin Beausoleil is all class. Lifted floral accents and silky tannins grace this mid-weight, refined Bordeaux Supérieur. Crushed red berry fruit, mint, blood orange and cinnamon are all laced together in this very pretty and understated Bordeaux Supérieur. The 2019 is an absolute delight and one of the under the radar gems of the vintage.”

Iron, cedar, tobacco, licorice, dried herbs and mint lend striking aromatic intensity to this vibrant, polished Bordeaux Supérieur. Cabernet aromatics and structure are especially evident today."

Vinous (A.Galloni-December 2022): 91/100 “The 2020 Puygueraud has developed into a gorgeous wine. Bright floral and spice notes lend freshness to this fruity, supple Francs Côtes de Bordeaux. This is the first vintage in which a portion of the wine was aged in cask, which has given the 2020 an attractive freshness that I did not sense en primeur. Raspberry jam, white flowers, rose petal and a touch of cinnamon are some of the notes that grace this exquisite Francs Côtes de Bordeaux from Nicolas Thienpont.”

Vinous (A. Galloni - March 2026): 90/100 "The 2023 Alcée is soft and caressing right out of the gate. Floral and spice overtones lift a core of vibrant red-toned fruit in this tasty, open-knit Côtes de Castillon. A touch of Cabernet Franc savoriness lifts the super-expressive finish. This is a fine effort."

Vinous (N. Martin - February 2026): 91/100 “The 2023 Alcée has quite a perfumed nose, clearly having opened up since I last tasted it. Black plum and touches of blue fruit. The palate is medium-bodied with light tannins, just a splash of soy that tinctures the black fruit with a minerally finish. A fine Castillon Côtes de Bordeaux.”

The 2021 vintage in the press:

Vinous (A.Galloni-December 2023): 91/100 “L'Alcée 2021 is round, succulent and very expressive. A multitude of perfumed, savory top notes bring aromatic presence to this charming, medium-weight Côtes de Bordeaux from Nicolas Thienpont. All elements are impeccably balanced. Bright acidity reinforces the whole on a finish embellished with pretty floral and salty notes.”

The 2018 vintage in the press:

Vinous (N. Martin-January 2021): 90/100 “The 2018 Alcée, The Castillon Côtes de Bordeaux from Nicolas Thienpont, has a rather thick, dense bouquet of opulent blackberry and cassis fruit. It is certainly the most sumptuous of Thienpont's wines this vintage. The palate is medium-bodied with fine tannins that frame layers of tar - and tobacco - infused black fruit. Dichotomous to the nose, the finish comes across as structured and a little more austere in style. I appreciate the focus and spiciness of this Alcée, which deserves 2-3 years in bottle. Very fine, if a bit like a jigsaw puzzle: you have to put it together in your mind!”
