Coralie de Boüard (daughter of Hubert de Boüard, owner of Angélus) has embarked on a new project in Montagne Saint-Émilion. Right from its first vintage (2016), Clos de Boüard is already a success, greedy, fleshy and devilishly seductive (85% Merlot). According to Michel Bettane and Thierry Desseauve, Clos Boüard is “a trusted address for wine lovers”.

Vinous (Neal Martin - February 2020) : 92/100 “Clos de Boüard 2017 offers delicious aromas of blackberry, brioche and light tobacco on the nose, which prove nicely concentrated. The palate is medium-bodied, with excellent acidity. The texture is velvety and very harmonious, with subtle notes of tar and graphite on the finish. This is an excellent Montagne Saint-Émilion from the de Boüard family. Apogée 2022-2036." (remarkable note for a wine at less than €25.00 a bottle)

Vinous (A. Galloni - December 2018): 91/100 "The 2016 Clos de Boüard is a rich, powerful wine. Dark red cherry, respberry, mocha, licorice and rose petal all flesh out in this succulent, potent Montagne Saint-Emilion. This is an impressive debut. Even so, it will be interesting to see is this wine can be more nuanced in future vintages".

Vinous (N. Martin - February 2026): 92/100 "The 2023 Les Cruzelles, the Lalande de Pomerol from the Durantou family, aged in 50% new oak, has a more mineral-driven bouquet compared to La Chenade. Here, 20% Cabernet Franc lends another dimension. The palate is medium-bodied with very supple tannins, fleshy with gentle grip. Black pepper and sage emerge toward the finish that has real intent and purpose. As such, I might afford this two or three years in bottle."

[...] Stephan Von Neipperg and his son Ludovic have now committed their estate to an eco-responsible approach. The wines are changing, new oak has been reduced, [...] The wines are gaining in precision and have never been so balanced, as is the case with the 2018 vintage”.

A true artist's wine, absent from the guides but that informed amateurs know well.

A family estate reawakened in 2011 by the arrival of son Paul Garcin, a former rock musician on the Bordeaux scene. An instant switch to organic and biodynamic viticulture, to produce intuitive, artist's wines that are immediately sapid and have a strong pleasure note. As a deliberate iconoclast, Paul Garcin makes a point of offering different facets to each Haut-Bergey vintage: a classic cuvée vinified and matured in the tradition of Bordeaux's great growths, the more contemporary Cuvée Paul, and single-vineyard cuvées highlighting their respective terroirs.
An approach hailed by the Revue du Vin de France: "A modern vision and the ability to reinvent oneself without betraying: Haut-Bergey symbolises the current vitality of Bordeaux's most historic vineyard".Cuvée Paul is a "modern" Pessac-Léognan, produced using contemporary practices to stay as close to the fruit as possible: partial vinification using whole bunches, and virtually wood-free ageing (concrete egg, amphora and demi-muid).

A family estate reawakened in 2011 by the arrival of son Paul Garcin, a former rock musician on the Bordeaux scene. An instant switch to organic and biodynamic viticulture, to produce intuitive, artist's wines that are immediately sapid and have a strong pleasure note. As a deliberate iconoclast, Paul Garcin makes a point of offering different facets to each Haut-Bergey vintage: a classic cuvée vinified and matured in the tradition of Bordeaux's great growths, the more contemporary Cuvée Paul, and single-vineyard cuvées highlighting their respective terroirs.
An approach hailed by the Revue du Vin de France: "A modern vision and the ability to reinvent oneself without betraying: Haut-Bergey symbolises the current vitality of Bordeaux's most historic vineyard".Cuvée Jardin is a parcel-based micro-cuvée (named after the eponymous parcel adjoining the Château), 100% Merlot, on a predominantly clay terroir.
