On the terroir of Pez, known to be the best in St-Estèphe (excluding classified growths), the Cazes family uses the same recipes here as those that made Lynch-Bages so successful: generous fruit and opulent texture. Ormes de Pez is an'almost' Lynch-Bages but at a quarter of the price!
Vinous (N. Martin) : 94-96/100 "The 2025 Ormes de Pez [...] is very refined on the nose with brambly black fruit, crushed stone and light humidor scents, focused and classically styled. The palate is medium-bodied with sapid black fruit, armed with a fine bead of acidity. Black merges into redder fruit towards the finish with commendable length. This Saint-Estèphe has a newfound fluidity which has taken it up a level. Superb."
La Revue du Vin de France : 93-94/100 “The strength of this vintage lies once again in its sensuality and the caressing quality of its tannins. A sumptuous wine, with a full, round mid-palate and velvety tannins. Explosive fruitiness.”
J-M Quarin : 92/100 “Delicate on the palate at first, with a rich flavour in the mid-palate, the wine melts on the palate and develops a smooth, velvety tannic structure.”
Bettane+Desseauve : 91-92/100 “Well-structured, with a solid framework and a particularly harmonious profile. A fine expression of the vintage.”
Vinous (A. Galloni) : 89-92/100 "The 2025 Ormes de Pez is redolent of dark cherry, herbs, menthol, tobacco, cedar and iron. This midweight Saint-Estèphe Cru Bourgeois has a lot to offer. Open-knit aromatics and relatively soft tannins suggest the 2025 will drink well pretty much right out of the gate."
