Galloni : 91-94/100 « The 2023 Couhins is an elegant, silky wine. Crushed flowers, blood orange, spice and raspberry all are very nicely delineated. Couhins is racy and polished, but also a bit less expressive than other recent vintages. I admire its energy, but even so, the 2023 is clearly still coming together. »

Quarin : 93/100 « Nuances réglissées et florales. Moelleux en entrée de bouche, savoureux au milieu, avec de la classe dans le toucher, le vin évolue enrobé et complet en finale. Très bonne longueur. »
Galloni : 89-91/100 « The 2023 Sociando-Mallet is a deep, powerful wine. Black cherry, incense, blackberry, licorice and cloves add to an impression of somber gravitas. Unctuous and rich, the 2023 shows the natural intensity of the Merlot in this vintage. Sociando is pretty heady in this vintage. »
Martin : 89-91/100 « The 2023 Sociando-Mallet has a cohesive and focused bouquet, classic Sociando in style. A touch of freshly tilled soil and cedar develops in the glass. The palate is medium-bodied with red berry fruit and lightly spiced with black pepper and cedar. Nicely balanced on the finish, this should develop well in bottle, although it lacks a bit of complexity. »

Martin : 91-93/100 « The 2023 Les Trois Croix has a slight metallic trait on the nose, though there seems to be sufficient black fruit underneath. This improves in the glass. The palate is medium-bodied with pliant tannins. It's fleshy and ripe, with fine structure and a touch of mineralité on the finish. This is just one of the best Fronsac wines out there. »

The open-knit, floral bouquet is immediately alluring, Medium in body and gracious, but with plenty of depth, Carbonnieux is beautifully refined in 2023. I admire its balance and poise. Hints of spice, crushed flowers and tobacco lift a core of dark blue- and black-toned fruits. »
Martin : 84-86/100 « The 2023 Carbonnieux has a relatively light bouquet with black cherries, wild strawberry and earthy notes, and touches of mushroom, though it is not as defined as I would like. The palate is medium-bodied with angular tannins on the entry, light red fruit but it needs more cohesion and flesh on the finish. I am not convinced by this showing I'm afraid. »

Martin : 94-96/100 « The aromatics deliver nearly immediate gratification: black cherries, wild strawberries, crushed violet petals and vanilla pod. It's all quite sumptuous but very well focused. [...] It's beautifully balanced with a very pure and seductive finish. Quarin : 95/100 « Couleur jaune vert. Nez intense, fruité, mentholé. Ample en entrée de bouche, juteux et très parfumé au milieu, le vin se développe complexe. Il s'achève long, pur et noble dans son toucher et ses arômes. C'est délicieux. »
Galloni : 91-93/100 « The 2023 Cos d'Estournel Blanc is quite powerful and not especially aromatic today. At this stage, it is mostly the wine's body that makes an impression. The 2023 has good depth, but it is clearly not expressive today. It will be interesting to see what time brings. »
Martin : 92-94/100 « The 2023 Cos d'Estournel Blanc offers slightly more tropical notes on the nose than Les Pagodes, with a touch more depth-hints of orange blossom and honeysuckle. The palate is well balanced with tangerine and lime, fine acidity, notable focus and a bright and tensile finish. This is another delicious white. It will be difficult to resist in its youth. »

A blast of intense dark fruit, leather, spice, menthol, game, licorice, dried herbs and chocolate infuses the palate with remarkable textural intensity. Ample and resonant in the glass, with fabulous balance, Les Pagodes is exceptionally fine in 2023. The long, sustained finish is a thing of beauty. »
Martin : 90-92/100 « The 2023 Les Pagodes de Cos has a plush crushed strawberry, cassis and violet-scented bouquet that displays some prudent use of oak. The palate is svelte and silky in texture and harmonious, with a judicious pinch of white pepper and graphite. A nicely poised, persistent finish wraps things up in style. This is a classy Les Pagodes. »

Galloni : 91-93/100 « The 2023 G d'Estournel is a seriously beautiful wine. Dark, layered and super-expressive, the 2023 has so much to offer. An explosion of red/purplish fruit, spice, rose petal, lavender and mocha makes a strong opening impression. This is an especially bold, fruit-forward vintage for the G, perhaps because of the inclusion of recently acquired parcels planted on clay/limestone soils. The 2023 is all about harmony, and there is plenty of that. »
Martin : 86-88/100 « The 2023 G d'Estournel has a very intense and ripe bouquet for this cuvée compared to recent vintages. It's opulent, almost ravishing. The palate is quite precocious with a granular texture and fine acidity, revealing a little graphite and a dab of black pepper on its linear finish. It is just missing a little amplitude, turning a little spirituous on the aftertaste. »

Il évolue complet, sur une longue finale juteuse et profonde, à la tannicité parfaitement enrobée. Depuis l'an dernier, ce vin rehausse son statut qualitatif. »
Galloni : 91-93/100 « The 2023 Cos Labory is a powerful, dense wine. Big tannins wrap around a core of dark fruit, gravel, spice, menthol and mocha. This strapping, old-school Saint-Estèphe packs plenty of punch. Clearly, Cos Labory is a work in progress. It will be some years before the Cos team can turn the estate around, as there is so much work to be done, especially in rehabilitating the vineyards. Even so, this is a fine effort for a property in transition. »
Martin : 89-91/100 « The 2023 Cos Labory is the first vintage made completely by Michel Reybier's team. The 2023 went through a parcel selection and use of peristaltic pumps. It has a slightly richer and more decadent bouquet, perhaps reflecting the summer heat more than Cos d'Estournel. The palate is medium-bodied with juicy ripe tannins, fleshy in style but there is satisfying structure in situ. Quite marine-influenced towards the finish with a tangy peppery aftertaste. It's not far from the 2022 in quality. »

Galloni : 93-95/100 « The 2023 d'Issan is a powerful, dense wine, especially for a property where the wines tend to be more understated. A rich, muscular Margaux, the 2023 d'Issan exudes intensity in all of its dimensions. Readers will have to be patient, as the 2023 is going to need a number of years to shed some of its considerable baby fat. »
Martin : 88-90/100 « The 2023 d'Issan has a very pure bouquet with black cherries, cassis and blueberry fruit, though I feel that other recent vintages have shown a touch more complexity. The palate is well balanced and cohesive with fine and quite edgy tannins. There is an impressive symmetry to this d'Issan with a very poised and quite persistent finish. It improves with aeration and all the time, the aromatics seem to muster more energy. »

Martin : 93-95/100 « It's much more classic in style, almost reserved, with tightly wound black fruit mixed with briar and light gravelly scents. The palate is medium-bodied with a light entry, just a pinch of spice and moderate depth. The silky, peppery, finish is more tertiary than you would expect to find on what was once quite a bombastic Pessac-Léognan. [...]  Very fine. I like this new direction. though I would not regard this as a benchmark for future vintages. This will be interesting to revisit after bottling. »

There's plenty of the textural richness Bernard Magrez loves, but it's just a bit tempered compared to previous years. Succulent red cherry, plum, rose petal, spice, menthol, licorice and mocha infuse the 2023 with notable depth. Bright acids refresh the palate nicely. »
Martin : 91-93/100 « The palate is medium-bodied with slightly granular tannins and sharp blackberry and raspberry fruit laced with black pepper. It demonstrates fine cohesion on the silky smooth finish. This should give 10 to 12 years of drinking pleasure. I would aver that this is a much more elegant Fombrauge than you would have found 10 years ago. »

Galloni : 91-93/100 « The 2023 Meyney is terrific. Silky and polished, the 2023 shows a side of Meyney I have not seen before. There's also terrific freshness and overall brightness. Dark red plum, blood orange, chalk, mint and dried herbs are all beautifully delineated. More than anything else, I admire the wine's poise. »
Martin : 89-91/100 « The 2023 Meyney is surprisingly backward on the nose with blackberry, kirsch, touches of black pepper and loamy aromas. It remains understated in the glass yet gains purity. The palate is medium-bodied with fine-grained tannins. Maybe a little conservative in style, it stays within the confines of the vintage yet feels harmonious.»

Potent tannins wrap around a core of red/purplish fruit, lavender, mint and dried herbs. These days, Malescot is not quite as unyielding as it used to be, but this remains a decidedly old-school Margaux in style and overall philosophy. »
Martin : 92-94/100 « Displaying blackberry and briar on the nose, the 2023 Malescot Saint Exupéry demands some coaxing from the glass. There's just a light, confit-like aroma in the background. The palate is medium-bodied with a fine structure, slightly powdery tannins, modest weight and noticeably fresh acidity and salinity, the latter especially prominent toward the finish. More classically hewn compared to the 2022, this will require five or six years in bottle. Classy. »

Galloni : 95-97/100 « The 2023 Ducru-Beaucaillou is a heady, sumptuous Saint-Julien. The aromatics alone are captivating. Truffle, rose petal, blood orange, pomegranate, spice and menthol build in a creamy, lavish Ducru. The 2023 is a classic Bruno Borie wine that emphasizes textural opulence. Time in the glass brings out gorgeous floral and spice-driven top notes. The balance of opulence and vibrancy is compelling. »
Martin : 94-96/100 « The palate is medium-bodied with a fresh entry. Showing moderate depth, it's quite linear in style and grippy. A faint touch of bell pepper emerges on the classically styled finish that reminds me of some of the old vintages of Ducru-Beaucaillou. »

Galloni : 90-92/100 « The 2023 La Croix Ducru-Beaucaillou marries sophistication with the textural richness that is such a signature here. All the elements are so well balanced. Jammy dark red fruit, pomegranate, blood orange, spice and mocha infuse the 2023 with tons of nuance. Supple tannins wrap it all together. This Saint-Julien screams with character. »
Martin : 91-93/100 « The 2023 La Croix Ducru-Beaucaillou has a very perfumed and floral bouquet: plush red berry fruit, vanilla, cedar and blood orange, well-defined with deftly integrated new oak (60%). The palate is medium-bodied with firm tannins that lend this La Croix a bit more backbone than recent vintages. It's very fresh; white pepper and thyme complement the bright red fruit, leading to an overtly peppery finish, with a touch of graphite on the aftertaste. »

A wine of substance and textural richness, Le Petit Ducru shows the more opulent side of a year marked with late-season heat, also revealing some stylistic choices by way of its bombastic personality. This Saint-Julien is certainly not shy. »
Martin : 90-92/100 « The 2023 Le Petit Ducru de Ducru Beaucaillou has a seductive bouquet with pure red fruit, incense and light cedar scents, just a slight minty element emerging with time. The palate is medium-bodied with crunchy black fruit and fine structure. There's a dash of black pepper and more fruit concentration on the finish than the Madame de Beaucaillou. Very promising. »

Galloni : 90-92/100 « The 2023 Madame de Beaucaillou is a very pretty, aromatic wine. Crushed red berry fruit, cinnamon, dried herbs and a kiss of French oak are all nicely delineated. This juicy, perfumed, Merlot-based Haut-Médoc is a fine choice for drinking over the next decade or so. The 2023 is absolutely delicious. »
Martin : 88-90/100 « The 2023 Madame de Beaucaillou has a delightful bouquet with brambly red fruit, rose petals and cedar. Less Petit Verdot in the blend means it is less floral than the 2022. The palate is grippy and quite peppery on the entry-a little angular at the moment, but barrel-maturation will smooth the edges. That cracked black pepper element reappears toward the finish that needs more persistency. Give it three to four years in bottle if you can. »

Quarin : 91/100 « Belle couleur sombre. Nez intense, au fruité mûr et subtil. Bouche délicate et suave, avec un gras fin parcourant le palais. Le vin évolue savoureux sur une belle longueur et un déroulé rarement vu aussi uni depuis le millésime 2005. Un renouveau. »
Galloni : 91-93/100 « The 2023 Prieuré-Lichine offers up copious red/purplish fruit, lavender, rose petal and mint. This is very nicely perfumed. Silky tannins add to an impression of finesse. There is just a touch of dryness on the finish, which is the only real question mark here. Tasted two times. »
Martin : 91-93/100 « The 2023 Prieuré-Lichine has a well-defined and quite detailed bouquet with pretty black cherries, cedar and wilted violet aromas. The palate is medium-bodied, with light tannins matched by a crisp bead of acidity. It doesn't possess a dense or concentrated finish, yet there is balance here, and it will provide very pleasant drinking for 15 to 18 years. This is just a delicious Margaux wine in the making. »

Martin : 90-92/100 « The 2023 Chapelle d'Ausone has a well-defined bouquet with dark berry fruit, bell pepper and light gravel scents, nicely focused with a subtle marine influence. The palate is medium-bodied with saturated tannins, though it is not as fleshy as previous vintages with quite a strict and linear finish. I suspect it will fill out during barrel-maturation. »

Martin : 90-92/100 « The élevage shapes this Saint-Émilion nicely. It's a little woody at first, but that dissipates nicely with a few swirls of the glass, revealing a refreshing, marine-influenced bouquet. The palate is medium-bodied with a smooth entry, quite a sensual and fleshy Moulin Saint-Georges, though the new oak is quite vocal and dominates the finish. »

Martin : 92-94/100 « The 2023 Deyrem-Valentin has a quintessential Margaux bouquet that is extremely well defined. Pure black cherry and blueberry fruit tones gently unfurl in the glass. The oak here is neatly integrated. The palate is wonderfully balanced with gentle grip, sapid black fruit and veins of blueberry, harmonious and poised with an insistent tug on the finish. This over-performs given its status and comes highly recommended. »

Black cherry, gravel, incense, chocolate, tobacco, licorice and cured meat infuse the 2023 with tons of Saint-Estèphe personality. Burly and rustic, in a good sense, the 2023 has tons of character. The Merlots feel pretty ripe and exuberant in this sample. »

Et pour les passionnés de dégustation, j'ajoute que je l'ai en plus regoûté après la dégustation du vin blanc. Chose épatante, cette confrontation ne renforce pas le tannin du vin rouge, un signe très positif. »
Galloni : 94-97/100 « The 2023 Lynch-Bages is a dark, brooding wine. In so many vintages, Lynch-Bages is a wine of sensuality, but in 2023, it is quite the powerhouse. Formidable tannins wrap around a core of black fruit, spice, menthol, licorice and gravel. This is a somber, introspective Lynch-Bages with a ton of Cabernet Sauvignon character. I can't wait to taste this from bottle. »
Martin : 93-95/100 « On the nose, glossy black fruit mixes with touches of cassis, graphite, violets and blood orange, perhaps demonstrating more horsepower than I anticipated. The palate is medium-bodied with fine, saturated tannins. There is a lovely symmetry to this Pauillac (not unlike Latour), armed with a cashmere texture and plenty of backbone on the finish, even though I would not describe it as a "grippy" Lynch-Bages. There's plenty of graphite character on the aftertaste. Excellent. »
