Offer & Newsletter Futures 2022

In this category, we offer you the wines, renowned or not, which were not in our selection last year:

• either because they have been created recently;
• or because their price has become attractive again;
• or because they raised their quality standards;
• or because they produced very little or nothing the previous year.

In any case, they deserve your attention as they succeed to retain our attention. We bet that they will stay for a long time in our selection!

    Classified among the first growths of Sauternes during the classification of 1855, the vineyard of Rayne Vigneau (84 hectares, including 62 in one piece) is famous for its soil, which is well known to geologists, as it is composed of a great variety of precious minerals of Pyrenean origin. Without losing sight of these "luxurious" origins " Rayne Vigneau offers smooth, easily accessible wines with floral aromas that are particularly marked in their youth.

    Galloni : 92-94/100 « The 2022 Rayne-Vigneau is very, very good. Jasmine, green pear, pepper and lemon confit give Rayne-Vigneau a decidedly bright profile to match its mid-weight, focused personality. This understated Sauternes is an absolute delight. »
    Martin : 93-95/100 « The palate is well balanced with a tangy entry, very pure with marmalade and peach toward the finish. I like the precision here and it should mature with style. »

    Galloni : 87-89/100 « The 2022 La Vieille Cure opens with a good burst of jammy fruit. However, there is a bit of edginess in the tannin that needs to resolve. »

    Started in 2003, the Clos Louie adventure is a textbook case: a dolly vineyard (2.3 ha) on a beautiful clay-limestone terroir of Castillon, careful biodynamic cultivation, double manual sorting during the harvest, low-intervention vinification, gentle maturation in 500-litre demi-muids.

    Louison et Léopoldine is the other Clos Louie wine, a tribute to Cabernet Franc (80%) from 50-year-old vines. Clean, bright fruit and remarkable aromatic freshness: a real nugget!

    Palmer, a Cru apart from the Margaux, delivers an original interpretation of the appellation with wines that are always charming, melting and voluptuous, which explains its 50% Merlot grape variety.

    Le Point : 18,5-19/20
    « Nez complexe, moins exubérant qu'Alter Ego, cerises en bocal, tanins fins, bien tramé, élégant, long, finale crayeuse. »
    Quarin : 99/100
    Galloni : 96-98/100
    « The 2022 Palmer is a wine of sublime beauty and refinement. It is a magnificent wine in every way. »
    Martin : 96-98/100 « Complex and expressive. Quite linear on the tobacco-infused finish, which is just quintessential Palmer. Do reserve a bin in your cellar for this and let it gather dust for at least a decade. »

    • Wine in organic approach
    288,00 € incl. VAT
    More

    This 45-hectare estate (in a single block to the south of Saint-Estèphe), famous for its Tuscan yellow façade and label, was acquired by Mr Lorenzetti in 2021. Knowing the investments made and the care given to the other crus in his stable of grands crus (Lilian-Ladouys, Pédesclaux and d'Issan), there is no doubt that Lafon-Rochet will shine with new lustre from the 2022 vintage, while remaining very affordable among its peers.

    Galloni : 95-97/100 « The 2022 Lafon-Rochet is fabulous. Once again, Lafon-Rochet is the most elegant wine in Saint-Estèphe. There's a bit more richness and mid-palate intensity than in the past, likely a combination of the year and the approach of the new team headed by Technical Director Christophe Congé, who was formerly at Lafite-Rothschild.»
    Martin : 92-94/100 « The 2022 Lafon-Rochet was picked from 12 september and over 10 consecutive days at a fairly leisurely pace since the conditions were so clement. After just one day, the juice was already dark red, so the team were prudent with extraction. Quite classic in style, this offers blackberry, light wild strawberry and iris flower scents. Backward at first, it then opens gradually with aeration. The palate is medium-bodied with fine grain tannins. I admire the balance and precision of this Lafon-Rochet, real finesse here and quite a "cool" and refined finish that fans out with a sense of confidence and composure. Bon vin. »

    Phélan-Ségur is one of Saint-Estèphe's historic estates, with a 70-hectare vineyard on the front line of the Gironde estuary, bordered to the north by Calon-Ségur and to the south by Meyney and Montrose. The arrival in 2018 of a new Belgian owner (Mr. Van de Vyvere) ushered in a new era and new ambitions at Phélan-Ségur: 20 hectares under organic management, braiding of the vines (instead of trimming), gradual reduction in planting density to 8,000 vines/ha to combat summer drought, sparing use of sulfur, parcel-by-parcel vinification using indigenous yeasts...

    Recent vintages have been very convincing, with racy wines combining intensity, vinosity and finesse in the image of Calon-Ségur.

    Galloni : 91-94/100
    « The 2022 Phélan-Ségur is shaping up to be a gem. A burst of dark red/purplish fruit makes a strong opening statement. The 2022 is immediately sensual and engaging. This will be a fascinating wine to follow. »
    Martin : 95-97/100 « A quintessentially Saint-Estèphe with a structured and very persistent finish. Allowing the wine to open in the glass, it reveals impressive depth (more so than the 2019 and 2020) and precision. »
