Catalog Autumn-Winter
2018-2019

Until August 2012, only the cultivation of grapes was certified organic (free of synthetic products) after a 3-year conversion period. Since then, from the 2012 vintage onwards, the sulphur dioxide content of wines has also been monitored in order to obtain the European label "organic wine".

Only wines bearing the European label on their labels are indicated to you as such on our website.

Other labels exist (Demeter, Biodyvin, Nature et Progrès...). These have more demanding specifications than organic farming but are not recognised by public agencies.

The owner, Véronique Cochran, continues the work of her father François Bouchet, one of the pioneers of biodynamics in France. Since 1989 (!), all of Falfas' 20 hectares have been biodynamic, but it is in the latest vintages that Falfas stands out from its neighbours for its superior sincerity and aromatic expression. A great wine as much marked by its limestone soil as by its grape varieties containing 30% Cabernet Sauvignon.

With 12 hectares cultivated in certified biodynamic viticulture since the 2007 vintage, Clos Puy-Arnaud produces an uncompromising wine, authentic, spicy and cut for ageing. Creation in 2014 of the "Les Ormeaux" vintage, a fruit wine (75% Merlot) more quickly accessible, distinguished by a love at first sight of Bettane and Dessauve "Juicy tannins, a velvety texture with a great delicacy and a precise freshness. For this second wine, this is a great success, especially since it is the first vintage".

Mr. Despagne's obsession is to produce the most lively wine in his family estate, planted with old varieties of Merlot and Cabernet. After organic cultivation in the vineyard, any modern input or process is banned in the vat room: no dry ice, yeasts, enzymes, tartaric acid, oak chips... A pure fermented grape juice, aged in barrels for 12 to 18 months and bottled without filtration or fining, promised to keep well and for a long time.

In biodynamic since 2010, Fougas has been making consistent, rich and ample wines, aged 100% in new barrels in its "Maldoror" cuvée. The tannic structure has been refined in the latest vintages, giving the wines a healthy tension. The top-of-the-range "Forces de Vies" cuvée, 90% Merlot, comes from the oldest vines, a beautiful combination of modern style and classicism of organic farming.
