In 2008, Denis Durantou acquired this Château for which he fell in love at first sight. A splendid 12 hectare clay-limestone vineyard on the first line of the Dordogne hillside, Montlandrie is in Castillon (which it directly overlooks) the equivalent of Ausone in Saint-Émilion.

As in his other properties (L'Église-Clinet, Les Cruzelles, La Chenade...), Denis Durantou used all his know-how and perfectionism to produce a fresh and floral wine, with a crisp and juicy fruitiness. Few Bordeaux wines are as deserving of the term "vibrant wine" as Montlandrie.

Since 1985, Pape Clément has magnificently combined the bouquet and natural finesse of the Graves with the power of its terroir (comparable to that of the greatest Pauillac wines). It is undoubtedly one of the super seconds on the left bank, what is confirmed by the marks attributed to its latest vintages.

Quarin : 95/100 « Nez intense, au fruité mûr. Nuances complexes. »

Practically abandoned in 1993 when Mr. and Mrs. Cathiard bought it, Smith Haut Lafitte is today one of the 10 greatest vintages of the Bordeaux left bank.

Tasted in February 2020 by the Revue du Vin de France, the 2010 vintage obtained 19/20 "it stands out as a major success, a wine all in intensity but especially in balance".

Bravo ! »

Haut-Bailly is the most delicate of the Graves wines with a particularly silky tannic structure.

The Revue du Vin de France noted 16/20 on 2004 (to be tasted again in 2014) "round, very open, full and dense fruit, unspeakable ageing" and 18/20 on 2017 "all the refinement of the cru is found in this bottle of admirable definition and very fine balance".

    Galloni : 93-96/100
« The 2022 Haut-Bailly is dark and quite brooding in bearing. I imagine the 2022 will take some time to come together, as the tannins are pretty forbidding at this stage. »
Martin : 96-98/100 « The palate is medium-bodied with filigree tannins. Minerals, black pepper and clove off a gentle grip with an impressive crescendo. This Haut-Bailly has a haunting beauty, the kind of wine that will bring people to tears. »

Second red wine of Haut-Brion, named as such since 2008 (previously Ch.Bahans Haut-Brion). To underline the stylistic kinship with Haut-Brion, Le Clarence is put in the same very special bottle.

Galloni : 92-94/100 « The 2022 Le Clarence de Haut-Brion is fabulous. Rich, deep and explosive, La Clarence is everything a second wine should be. In other words, a smaller-scaled version of the original. »
