Even if they have exceptional ageing potential, we recommend tasting Sauternes from their earliest youth.
They do not have tannic astringency and their aromatic complexity is therefore fabulous!

"Save water, drink wine !"

"Champagne! Because no great story started over a bowl of salad."

"I just saved some wine. It was caught in a bottle."

"To know the origin and quality of a wine, there's no need to drink the whole barrel." Oscar Wilde (Moderation Advice)

"Good wine is too expensive and bad wine is too bad." Jack Rollan

"A glass of wine is good for your health. The rest of the bottle is good for mental health!"

Catalog Spring-Summer
2020

Until August 2012, only the cultivation of grapes was certified organic (free of synthetic products) after a 3-year conversion period. Since then, from the 2012 vintage onwards, the sulphur dioxide content of wines has also been monitored in order to obtain the European label Vin bio certifié.
Only wines that are certified organic and display the European label on their labels are marked as such on our website.

Other labels exist (Demeter, Biodyvin, Nature et Progrès...). These have more demanding specifications than organic farming but are not recognised by public agencies.

In 2010, the arrival of Lauriane André (Françoise's daughter-in-law) gave new impetus to the family estate: 7.5 hectares around the famous Corton hill. This young winegrower had strong ideas: conversion to biodynamics (acquired from 2012), yield limitation, careful sorting of the grapes, no yeasting, moderate use of new barrels (30% maximum). The results are already there, Burgundy Today having nominated her among the 5 hopes for 2013, specifying that "her wines are already among the best that the Côte de Beaune can give". It must be said that her role models are Patrick Bize and Jean-François Coche-Dury...

Domaine André's progress continues, as Bettane and Desseauve point out: "The 2014 reds are brilliant with their obvious concentration of fruit, enhanced by a dense and energetic lamb's lettuce of tannins, enhanced by notes of graphite and pepper", with a crush for the Beaune Les Reversées.

Outside the winemaking world, Alexandra de Vazeilles became passionate about the Domaine des Bachelards, which she bought in 2012. Formidably surrounded (Claude and Lydia Bourguignon for agronomy, Stéphane Derenoncourt for vinification, Bernard Burtschy for the style of the wines), she manages her 12 hectares with unshakeable convictions: high density plots (10,000 vines/ha), biodynamic management (the estate was already organic before her arrival), manual harvesting in small crates, no carbonic maceration, long maturing in barrels and tuns. Its wines are ample, deep, simultaneously mineral (granite) and velvety, and certainly built for a long and beautiful ageing. Wines with a strong personality, in the image of their owner. Rated one star in the guide 2020 Revue du Vin de France.

Since 2014, Michel Tardieu has been producing a rosé from Tavel (the only appellation devoted solely to rosé and considered by many to be the best rosé terroir in France) composed of 60% Grenache, 35% Cinsault and 5% Syrah, aged between 40 and 50 years. Although quite pale in colour, this rosé wine stands out from the crowd with its assertive vinosity and character, while its generous fruitiness and delicate liveliness bring balance and length. This is an authentic rosé for a meal, even better after one or two years in the cellar.

This is the Domain which, through its transition to biodynamics and its parcel selections, has in recent years shown the best qualitative progress in the Loire Valley. Crystalline chenins and ripe Cabernet Franc, all bred with mastery to sublimate the purity and identity of the juices, between tension, crunch, refinement and generosity. In white as in red, a dazzling and flawless range. "2013 marks a qualitative and emotional turning point. The latest vintages are exceptional" according to Mr. Bettane. Domain rated three stars in the guide of the Revue du Vin de France.
