This classified growth, owned by INRA, has grown considerably since the Institute's researchers decided to apply the results of their most advanced research to it, and the arrival of Mr Derenoncourt as an advisor. In a rather lively and tense style, Couhins is today by its price the best deal among the white classified growths of Pessac-Léognan.

Bettane+Desseauve : 91-92/100 “With a focus on minerality and chalky notes, it reveals a ripe Sauvignon Blanc with smoky and apricot-like hints. The full-bodied and lingering palate achieves remarkable balance thanks to a lively and dynamic finish.”

La Revue du Vin de France : 90-91/100 “A delicate wine, this one emphasises freshness and a subtle floral character. On the palate, it is light and crisp, offering a sense of purity but lacking a little in length. Best enjoyed whilst young for its vibrancy and finesse.”

Like many wines from the Sauternes region, Climens has been producing a confidential 100% Semillon cuvée since 2022. Pressed without destemming, fermented with natural yeasts, and aged for eight months in glass globes, Lilium captures and blends the mineral tension of Climens' limestone terroir with the richness of Semillon, resulting in a perfectly pure (aged in glass) and fresh aromatic expression. A great dry white wine from southern Gironde is born!

Smith Haut Lafitte's white wine has built up a solid reputation over the past 20 years, even though it is not a grand cru classé (but neither are Haut-Brion blanc and Pape-Clément blanc). The only 1er cru classé in the commune of Sauternes with Yquem, Guiraud offers rich, voluminous, powerful wines with a formal classicism. Certified organic since the 2011 vintage.

J-M Quarin : 97/100 « Pale yellow in colour, with a brilliant sheen. The nose is intense, refined, pure and subtle, with hints of raspberry and cream. On the palate, it is remarkable, offering a first-class texture, a fresh and subtle aromatic profile, a smooth, velvety mouthfeel, and a long, intricate finish. A thoroughly seductive and magnificent wine. »

Vinous (N. Martin) : 95-97/100"The 2025 Guiraud is well defined on the nose, with plenty of botrytised fruit, hints of saffron and apricot blossom, quite nuanced compared with some of its peers. The palate is well balanced, with a tangy, mellifluous entry. Bright acidity counters the richness of this Guiraud, a touch of spice towards the lingering and powerful finish that fans out with style. This is a great Guiraud from winemaker Sandrine Garbay."

Bettane+Desseauve : 95-96/100 “A very successful vintage, characterised by textbook botrytis and top-class ageing. Great length.

Vinous (A. Galloni) : 93-95/100 "The 2025 Guiraud balances power and energy like very few Sauternes can. Orange confit, passion fruit, crystallized ginger and exotic white flowers fil out the layers. Silky contours are a sign of total finesse. Impeccable. Guiraud is one of the most elegant Sauternes readers will come across. »

La Revue du Vin de France : 92-94/100Elegant and restrained, it displays great finesse and nuance. Whilst it follows the eminently distinguished style of the 2022 and 2023 vintages, this 2025 appears slightly more reserved in its expression.

Certified organic since 2015 and with a vineyard that is entirely biodynamic, Château de La Dauphine aims, beyond its 350 years of history, to set an example of modern winegrowing that is mindful of environmental issues. The wines, with more finesse than extraction, lack neither substance nor charm. "La Dauphine is clearly one of Fronsac's benchmarks," says Mr Galloni.

    See the technical sheet

Vinous (A. Galloni) : 93-95/100 "The 2025 La Dauphine is superb. Dark, ample and explosive, the 2025 races across the palate with inky fruit, tobacco, dried herbs, lavender and chocolate. This is a great La Dauphine. The Cabernet Franc is dialed up in this vintage, an approach that works so well. Clean saline notes frame the close."

Bettane+Desseauve : 93/100 “The floral bouquet and delicate red fruit notes, accompanied by a hint of warm stone, lend this Fronsac a great deal of distinction. Fresh and silky on the palate, it lingers elegantly, leading to a deep and particularly stylish finish.”

Vinous (N. Martin) : 90-92/100 "The 2025 La Dauphine has a clean, well-defined bouquet with pure black cherries, blueberry and light cassis scents, the oak neat and tidy. The palate is medium-bodied with light tannins, dark berry fruit, quite linear in style with a much lighter chassis on the finish than I expected. As such, it should drink well after a couple of years in bottle."

J-M Quarin : 89/100 “Pleasant on the palate, fruity and flavourful, with a soft body. A medium-length finish with well-integrated tannins. A pleasant, straightforward wine.”

With 12 hectares cultivated in biodynamic farming, certified since the 2008 vintage, Clos Puy-Arnaud is one of the great Côtes de Castillon wines that have nothing to envy to neighbouring Saint-Émilion.

Uncompromising, the great wine that has made the estate's reputation is an authentic cuvée, straightforward, deep and made for laying down.

Vinous (A. Galloni) : 93-95/100 "The 2025 Clos Puy Arnaud is fabulous. Strong floral and savory top notes meld into dark red/purplish fruit, rose petal, mocha and spice. The two Cabernets are elevated in this year's blend, adding strong savory accents that are quite pronounced, but there's plenty of depth and richness to pull it all together."

J-M Quarin: 91/100 “Deep, intense purple color. A lovely, very fruity nose with notes of raspberries. Delicate on the palate at first, flavorful in the mid-palate, with a precise texture; the wine unfolds with fragrance and vitality, leading to a long finish.”

A family estate reawakened in 2011 by the arrival of son Paul Garcin, a former rock musician on the Bordeaux scene. An instant switch to organic and biodynamic viticulture, to produce intuitive, artist's wines that are immediately sapid and have a strong pleasure note. As a deliberate iconoclast, Paul Garcin makes a point of offering different facets to each Haut-Bergey vintage: a classic cuvée vinified and matured in the tradition of Bordeaux's great growths, the more contemporary Cuvée Paul, and single-vineyard cuvées highlighting their respective terroirs.

An approach hailed by the Revue du Vin de France: "A modern vision and the ability to reinvent oneself without betraying: Haut-Bergey symbolises the current vitality of Bordeaux's most historic vineyard".

    See the data sheet

La Revue du Vin de France : 93-94/100 “Haut-Bergey 2025 effortlessly combines density and elegance. The fruit, vibrant and pure, is accompanied by subtle spicy notes. On the palate, it is full-bodied yet never heavy, offering a noble texture and a lovely finish. The balance between power and finesse is particularly well achieved, in a style that respects the terroir and the vintage.

Certainly the best quality/price/pleasure ratio in the appellation.

La Revue du Vin de France : 91-92/100 “Staying true to its ethos, La Gurgue focuses on fruit and approachability. This straightforward, easy-drinking wine offers immediate pleasure with its simple, well-balanced style.”

Vinous (A. Galloni) : 90-92/100 "The 2025 La Gurgue is wonderfully fresh and vibrant in the glass. Crushed raspberry, blood orange, chalk and slate are pushed forward. The 2025 is juicy and supple but offers a great deal of energy and tension. It’s a style I personally find quite appealing. All this needs is time to come together."

Vinous (N. Martin) : 88-90/100 "It has a tightly wound nose, fresh and crisp, blackberry with a touch of black olives. The palate is medium-bodied with grainy tannins, powdery in texture, graphite-infused black fruit and an off-dry finish. Give this two or three years in bottle."

A small Margaux classified growth (24 ha), Ferrière is a traditional Margaux, frank and pleasant, moderately powerful but perfectly balanced. Its capacity for ageing is undeniable. Certified organicsince 2015, Ferrière was doubly certified biodynamic in 2018, with the Biodyvin and Demeter labels. Awarded Best Winemaker of the Year 2024 by Revue du Vin de France, Claire Villars-Lurtonet has pushed her Margaux cru to the top. Bravo!

    See the data sheet

La Revue du Vin de France : 94-95/100 “With its unique character, Ferrière impresses with its refined texture and elegant expression. The velvety, silky Cabernets offer tannins of great precision. The vibrant, fresh finish elegantly rounds off this highly distinguished wine.”

Bettane+Desseauve : 93-94/100 “A marked improvement, it has gained in body, energy and precision. A particularly impressive development that could make it one of the best value-for-money wines in the appellation.”

Vinous (N. Martin): 91-93/100 “The 2025 Ferrière [...] has a delightful, well-defined bouquet with iris flower and subtle undergrowth scents, plenty of black fruit, yet it feels streamlined and focused. The palate is medium-bodied with supple tannins, silky smooth in texture, a keen line of acidity and more minéralité on the finish compared to its Margaux “sibling”, La Gurgue. This is a delicious Margaux that will be approachable in its youth but will age in bottle. Just 12.7% alcohol here."

Vinous (A. Galloni): 90-92/100 “The 2025 Ferrière is laced with dark blueberry fruit, crème de cassis, lavender, menthol and licorice. Inky and unctuous in feel, with striking mid-palate sweetness, the 2025 is a total charmer. [...] Firm chocolatey tannins support the finish. In organic conversion from 2013, Durfort-Vivens was one of the very first classified growths in the Médoc to claim and display organic certification from 2016. M. Bettane is one of its most fervent defenders: "the quality/price ratio remains absolutely unique at this level of quality of terroir and work.

    See the technical sheet

La Revue du Vin de France : 94-95/100 “Still a little tight at this stage, Durfort-Vivens relies on its Cabernets to create a straightforward, well-structured wine. The texture, fine and powdery, hints at great potential. Ageing should bring the necessary polish to this promising wine.”

Bettane+Desseauve : 94-95/100 “With its noble rose aroma, we must wait for its beautiful structure—which is still slightly tight at present—to continue to refine itself, but its future looks particularly promising.”

Vinous (A. Galloni) : 92-94/100 "The 2025 Durfort-Vivens offers a striking mix of textural intensity and finesse. Crushed flowers, mint, lavender, sage, tobacco and incense add tons of inner sweetness and perfume. Dark red/purplish fruit emerges with time. This really opens beautifully with a bit of time in the glass, showing commendable textural presence and tons of class to match."

Among the greatest wines of the Médoc, Palmer is undoubtedly a cru in a class of its own, utterly captivating, with unrivalled opulence and refinement. This unique character owes much to its high proportion of Merlot (46%) and its rigorous viticultural practices (organic since 2016, biodynamic since 2018). Palmer is capable of producing legendary wines (1961, 1989, 2009...), such as the 2023 vintage, rated 100/100 by Vinous (Martin): "With a sumptuous and fascinating texture, Palmer delivers on all its promises in 2023. As always, it is one of Bordeaux’s most remarkable wines.”

J-M Quarin : 99/100 “Extremely full-bodied on the palate, with a velvety texture and vibrant fruitiness, rich in flavour, the wine develops a caressing quality before gaining structure in the finish. Here it becomes fresher and more floral against a backdrop of dark fruit that is quite paradoxical. Unbeatable!”

La Revue du Vin de France : 96-98/100 “In keeping with recent vintages, Palmer is produced from very low yields. This natural concentration results in a wine of great expression, yet one that is extremely easy to drink and well-balanced. The fruit is intense and rounded on the palate, unfolding a tapestry of fresh red and black fruit aromas. The finish, with its velvety tannins, unfolds with great intensity. ”

Vinous (A. Galloni) : 96-98/100 "The 2025 Palmer is unusual in that Merlot drives the blend this year. That results in an unusually juicy Grand Vin. Even so, there's plenty of supporting structure. The blend is 55% Merlot, 41% Cabernet Sauvignon and 4% Petit Verdot. Black fruit, lavender, menthol, licorice, gravel and chocolate build into a driving, potent finish. There's a lot of gravitas and substance here. I am very much looking forward to tasting this as a finished wine; my impression today is that the 2025 is holding back quite a bit of its potential."

Bettane+Desseauve : 96-97/100 “Great concentration, a deep colour and a wonderfully velvety texture once again give Palmer its instantly recognisable style. The natural and distinctive character of the vintage comes through very clearly here. A great success.”

Vinous (N. Martin) : 95-97/100 "The 2025 Palmer is quintessentially Palmer on the nose with those almost extravagant floral violet scents that blossom in the glass. Wonderful delineation and focus, touches of Indian ink and cassis emerge with time. The palate is very smooth and velvety on the entry, disguising the substance and weight of this wine. Impressive in terms of density, with a little more grip than the Alter Ego, it delivers just the right amount of spice that gives the finish another dimension. One of the longer-term Margaux wines that would benefit from a cellar in its first few years."

Second wine of Gruaud-Larose. In a rather powerful and tight register, Sarget is a serious and convincing Saint-Julien, with substance, at its best after 5 to 7 years of ageing.

    See the data sheet

Bettane+Desseauve : 93/100 “The terroir’s nobility is expressed here with great aromatic precision and a particularly meticulous winemaking process, in the spirit of a great wine.”

Vinous (A Galloni) : 90-92/100 "The 2025 Sarget de Gruaud-Larose is a gorgeous second wine. Aromatics and fruit are all amplified in the glass, but what distinguishes Sarget from many second wines is the textural finesse of its tannins. Silky contours wrap around a core of dark red cherry/plum fruit, lavender, rose petal and mint. Merlot plays the leading role, but more than anything the 2025 impresses with its exceptional balance. Floral top notes linger on the sustained finish. I have very high hopes here."

J-M Quarin: 89/100 “A deeply coloured wine with an intense nose of ripe fruit. On the palate, it is delicately textured, with lovely notes of black fruit and a finish that, whilst not particularly long, is flavourful. Very pleasant to drink. Best enjoyed young.”

Vinous (N. Martin): 86-88/100 “The 2025 Sarget de Gruaud Larose, aged in used oak barrels, has an open-knit bouquet with brambly red fruit, crushed rock and light graphite scents, definitely a more "transparent" and, to some, maybe more austere style. The palate is medium-bodied with slightly dry tannins on the entry, less fruit and more structure than recent vintages, with a healthy dose of black pepper on the finish. I would just like a little more flesh to develop."

The best cru bourgeois of Saint-Julien (it could easily have been classified in 1855), kept by the Saint-Pierre team, even owner, and in very good shape in the last vintages. The Médoc's best value par excellence.

Vinous (N. Martin): 93-95/100 “The 2025 Gloria [...] has a lovely bouquet with well-defined blackberry, violet and crushed stone scents, the oak seamlessly integrated. The palate is medium-bodied with fine, grainy tannins, good concentration and a tensile, minerally finish. Bon vin."

J-M Quarin: 94/100 “A deep red colour with black and purple highlights. An intense, refined, fruity, pure and subtle nose. Meticulously crafted on the palate, with a classy texture and a lush development, the wine evolves with a smooth, noble tannic structure. It finishes long, full-bodied, powerful and very fine.”

Vinous (A. Galloni): 92-94/100 “The 2025 Gloria is fabulous. Bright, floral and full of life, Gloria is so impressive. Red-toned fruit, blood orange, mint, cinnamon and dried herbs all add energy to this delicious, mid-weight Saint-Julien. Gloria is especially fine in 2025. Don’t miss it.”

Saint-Pierre's obvious progress since 2003 now places it as a great rival to its peers in Saint-Julien, even surpassing them in depth of flesh. Magnificent in recent vintages, such as the 2019 rated 95/100 by the Revue des Vins de France "Great success" or the 2020 rated 96/100 "one of the most accomplished and refined ever".

    See the technical sheet

Label. The 2025 vintage marks a complete overhaul of Château Saint-Pierre’s visual identity, featuring a new, streamlined label that incorporates the keys from the château’s gate.

J-M Quarin: 97/100 “Deep black colour. An intense, refined, fruity, pure and deep nose. Smooth when swirled in the glass. Full-bodied on the attack, rich on the palate in true Pauillac style, opulent yet profound; the wine unfolds powerfully and complexly, with tannins that are both smooth and velvety. A stunningly long finish. A blend of refined and rare sensations. [...] Well done and thank you!”

La Revue du Vin de France : 95-96/100 “With very low yields, the wine combines concentration and brilliance. The structure, slender and elongated, retains a lovely freshness and a well-balanced density. The sparkling finish reveals hints of graphite, the vintage’s elegant signature.”

Bettane+Desseauve : 94-95/100 “Concentrated and robust, with firm yet harmonious tannins and excellent structure. As consistent as ever.”

Vinous (A. Galloni): 93-95/100 “The 2025 Saint-Pierre is superb. Crème de cassis, graphite, licorice, cloves, lavender and inky dark fruit saturate the palate. Cabernet Sauvignon speaks with striking intensity from start to finish. This full-bodied, explosive Saint-Julien delivers the goods, big time."

Vinous (N. Martin): 92-94/100 “The 2025 Saint-Pierre does not quite possess the delineation or clarity of the Gloria this year, perhaps summer warmth just impinging on the aromatics more, quite high-toned and opulent. The palate is medium-bodied with grainy tannins, powdery in texture, slightly chalky, but it coheres nicely on the finish. Good backbone and plenty of freshness, there is a dash of white pepper on the finish. Excellent."

Of all the second classified growths in St-Julien, Gruaud-Larose is the most vigorous and massive in young wine. But, the magic of the terroir, it acquires softness and finesse if it is given time to age. Its quality/price ratio puts it ahead of the other second classified growths of St-Julien!

    See the data sheet

Anniversary. With the 2025 vintage, Gruaud-Larose celebrates the 300th anniversary of the Château, founded in 1725 by Joseph-Stanislas Gruaud and his cousin, the Chevalier de Larose. To mark the occasion, the wine will be presented in a black-and-gold screen-printed bottle.

Bettane+Desseauve : 97-98/100 “Superb in both its aroma and texture, it impresses with the harmony of its composition. A new must-buy thanks to its exceptional quality and consistently reasonable pricing.”

J-M Quarin: 97/100 “Deep black colour. An intense, refined nose with lovely notes of black fruit. A creamy texture. Delicate on the palate at first, particularly aromatic on the mid-palate, velvety; the wine caresses the palate flawlessly right through to the finish. It finishes long, deep and complex in flavour.”

La Revue du Vin de France : 95-97/100 “2025 marks the estate’s 300th vintage. It lives up to expectations, confirming the fine consistency of recent vintages here. A wine with a lovely brilliance, well-rounded on the palate and refined, which is a joy to drink. Its harmony and approachability should not obscure its potential and depth.

Vinous (A. Galloni): 95-97/100 “The 2025 Gruaud Larose is rich, ample and exotic right out of the gate. Dark-toned fruit, graphite, licorice, mocha and lavender are all dialed up. The 2025 has a lot to offer, but will need a number of years to be at its finest. There's a lot of wine here. "

Vinous (N. Martin): 93-95/100 “Fine delineation and firmly classical in style. The palate is medium-bodied with slightly chalky tannins. A more tertiary Gruaud Larose, hints of dark powdered chocolate combine with black fruit, leading to a more structured vintage that lingers nicely in the mouth. Perhaps slightly less deep than some of its peers, this has a tendency to gain weight during élevage. Englishman's claret!"

Since 2010, Claire Villars (also at Ferrière and La Gurgue), puts back in the saddle Haut-Bages Liberal. With a qualitative terroir (adjacent to Latour), this certified organic wine since 2019 has become, for a reasonable price, the good deal of Pauillac.

    See the data sheet

Vinous (A. Galloni): 93-96/100 “The 2025 Haut-Bages Libéral is a powerful, tightly wound wine. Bright acids and beams of tannin are front and center. In this tasting, it is driven and also very shut down. The saline-drenched finish reverberates with tension. Intense red-toned fruit, chalk, mint, white pepper and blood orange fill out the layers."

Vinous (N. Martin): 93-95/100 “The 2025 Haut-Bages Libéral [...] has clearly the most beguiling aromatics among the three wines that I tasted with Claire Villars-Lurton, with pure black cherries, cassis and violet scents that burst from the glass. Wonderful delineation. The palate is medium-bodied with pliant tannins, a silver thread of acidity and, crucially, that tingle from the limestone soils that defines the finish. What a superb and distinctive Pauillac this is."

La Revue du Vin de France : 93-94/100 “Grown on limestone soil, it develops a distinctive chalky texture that defines its character. The palate is straightforward, driven by juicy fruit, with a lovely smoothness on the mid-palate. A unique style, focused on finesse and delicacy, which captivates with its personality.”

Bettane+Desseauve : 92/100 “With a full-bodied, rich texture, it retains a generous character. On the palate, it prioritises approachability over intensity, making it easy to enjoy right away.”

Since 2009 and the acquisition by Mr. Lorenzetti, we can talk about a new vintage wine classified in Pauillac. Unworthy of his ranking, Pédesclaux had until then disappeared from the Bordeaux scene. The ambition and resources of the new owner are there: complete overhaul of the installations, acquisition of new plots of land ideally located. The first vintages offer the image of a supple and easily accessible Pauillac, at a price that defies all competition in the appellation.

    See the data sheet

Bravo ! »

La Revue du Vin de France : 93-94/100 “More distinctly characterised by Cabernet than previous vintages, it offers fine precision and a more assertive expression. The fruit is crisp, with pronounced graphite notes, a taut palate and a salty finish. It benefits from subtle ageing, a pure expression, a lovely texture and fine tannins. Slightly less dense than the very best.”

Vinous (A. Galloni): 92-94/100 “The 2025 Pédesclaux is powerful, rich and expansive, yet it retains striking finesse to temper all of the natural intensity of this warm, dry year. Pédesclaux certainly has a lot to offer. Lifted floral notes, silky contours and gorgeous blue/purplish fruit are some of the signatures that grace this expressive, generous Pauillac.”

Bettane+Desseauve : 92/100 “More floral than is typical for the region, it charms with its soft tannins and elegant style. Behind this immediate approachability, however, lies a structure designed for excellent ageing potential.”

Vinous (N. Martin): 88-90/100 “The 2025 Pédesclaux was picked from September 8 to 19, finishing with the Petit Verdot. It has a sorbet-fresh nose, more red than black fruit, touches of pine emerging, a little natural in style. The palate is medium-bodied with firm and slightly coarse tannins. Quite grippy, peppery, but I find the finish missing some substance and precision. Hopefully, it will gain a little more complexity during its barrel maturation."

Contiguous to Mouton-Rothschild, Pontet-Canet is in good vintages the very type of great Pauillac, straight and racy. The first of the Grands Crus Classés to be certified "organic" (in 2010), Pontet-Canet has been at the top of the Médoc since 2000.

    See the data sheet

Vinous (A. Galloni) : 96-98+/100 « The 2025 Pontet-Canet is a wine of exquisite class. Silky, aromatic and vibrant, the 2025 is oll finesse. Crushed red/purplish fruit, lavender, rose petal and a gentle hint of spice are all wonderfully knit together. Pontet-Canet is one of the more refined, sublimely beautiful wines of the year. This could turn out even better than my note suggests. Tasted two times. »

La Revue du Vin de France : 96-97/100 “One of the most flamboyant wines tasted en primeur. Remarkable smoothness and elegance, a silky texture, depth and structure combine to create a particularly harmonious whole. Notes of cherry shine through brilliantly, supported by a masterful balance and velvety tannins that lend the wine a long, refined finish.”

Bettane+Desseauve : 96/100 “Nobly aromatic and remarkably natural, it expresses the vintage with great sincerity. The deep palate retains great distinction and a true personality.”

Vinous (N. Martin) : 94-96/100 "The 2025 Pontet-Canet was picked between September 2 and 23 and matured in 50% new oak barrels, 35% amphorae and 15% used barrel. The alcohol this year is 13.3%. This has a more fruit-driven bouquet than its peers, with upfront blackberry and blueberry fruit, a little floral in style, with hints of pressed violet that emerge with aeration. Fine delineation. This is finely balanced, quite flinty on the back palate, edgy with pleasing focus. Just a touch of black pepper towards the composed finish. Just the right amount of grip here. Not quite as long as you would find in warmer vintages, but that is moot because of the freshness and brightness in this Pontet Canet."

On a magnificent gravelly hillock that has nothing to envy that of its neighbour Montrose, Meyney (Crédit Agricole property) is a serious candidate for the title of best Médoc bourgeois cru in each vintage. This 45-hectare estate (in a single block to the south of Saint-Estèphe), famous for its Tuscan yellow façade and label, was acquired by Mr Lorenzetti in 2021. Knowing the investments made and the care given to the other crus in his stable of grands crus (Lilian-Ladouys, Pédesclaux and d'Issan), there is no doubt that Lafon-Rochet will shine with new lustre from the 2022 vintage, while remaining very affordable among its peers.

Since 2022 and the arrival of new cellar master M. Congé (ex-Lafite-Rothschild), Lafon-Rochet has shown more depth of flesh than in the past, while retaining the unctuousness and fruity brightness that are its signature features, thanks to its high Merlot content (40%).

    See the data sheet

Vinous (A. Galloni) : 94-96/100 "The 2025 Lafon-Rochet is classy and polished, as it so often is. Readers will find a Saint-Estèphe of nuance, delineation and understated class. Vibrant blue/purplish fruit, lavender, sage and menthol are some of the many nuances that begin to open with some coaxing. This is classic Lafon-Rochet all the way."

J-M Quarin : 94/100 “A deep, intense purple colour. A very aromatic, refined, fruity, pure and floral nose. Delicately full-bodied on the palate, with a classy texture; the wine melts on the palate with a charming development. On the finish, the tannins are the most distinguished ever seen from this estate. A lovely, fragrant length. It is very good.”

Bettane+Desseauve : 92-93/100 “With a fine physique that is still slightly tight today, he has all the potential needed to quickly develop into a well-balanced horse.”

Vinous (N. Martin) : 91-93/100 "The 2025 Lafon-Rochet was picked from September 9 to 23 and matured in less new oak than usual, around 15%, with more foudres, 40%, including around one-third new from Stockinger and Taransaud. I think the influence of the new foudres is tangible on the nose and at the moment just masks a little of the fruit profile. The palate is medium-bodied with firm tannins, classic and a little austere in style, very Saint-Estèphe with an off-dry finish. I would have liked just a little more sustain and complexity, but it delivers an attractive salinity on the aftertaste."

As its name indicates, Bellegrave is on the crown of alluvial gravel of the Isle. With application, Mr. Bouldy has been offering for 40 years a true artisanal Pomerol, fresh, with velvety, energetic tannins and excellent keeping qualities.

Vinous (A. Galloni) : 91-93/100 "The 2025 Bellegrave is a powerful, hearty Pomerol. Blackberry, gravel, menthol, dried herbs, chocolate and incense are front and center. Deeply pitched Cabernet Franc overtones build through the mid-palate and into the huge, resonant finish. This is such a distinctive wine."

Vinous (N.Martin) : 90-92/100 "The 2025 Bellegrave (Pomerol) has a well-defined nose with tobacco-tinged red berry fruit that gently unfolds in the glass. Discrete at first, though it soon finds its voice. The palate is medium-bodied with grainy tannins, decent weight, fresh and harmonious, with a classically styled finish sprinkled with white pepper. This is a fine Bellegrave that should age well in bottle."

As well maintained as Canon-La Gaffelière (same owner), under the direction of Mr. Derenoncourt, Clos de l'Oratoire offers practically the same fullness and intensity for half the price.

    See the data sheet

Vinous (N. Martin) : 89-91/100 "The 2025 Clos de l'Oratoire was picked September 10 to 22 at 34 hl/ha and matured in 20% new oak barrels. It has a slightly more backward, slightly austere nose at first that opens in the glass. The palate is well balanced with slightly chalky tannins, leaning more towards black fruit, chalky in terms of texture with a tickle of cracked black pepper on the finish. Fine."

Bettane+Desseauve : 92-93/100 “Blackberry, blackcurrant and floral notes combine to create an enticing bouquet. Dense, velvety and elegant on the palate, it gains in precision with each vintage.”

Vinous (A. Galloni) : 93-95/100 "The 2025 Clos de l'Oratoire is a gorgeous, mid-weight Saint-Émilion. Strong floral and savory inflections open first. Initially deceptive, the 2025 has plenty of power lying in reserve. The blend is 80% Merlot and 20% Cabernet Franc, with the Franc very much front and center in the wine's aromatics, saline-infused contours and overall structural feel. This is impeccably done."

An oenologist by training, Ms. Papon-Nouvel owns two tiny properties at the bottom of Saint-Émilion near Canon-La Gaffelière: Petit Gravet Aîné (2.4 ha) and Clos Saint-Julien (1.3 ha), where the vines are mainly old cabernets francs. From the vine to the cellar, she manages all the stages in the production of her wines on her own and, whatever the vintage, her talent as an instinctive winemaker gives wines of natural elegance and exemplary sweetness.

    See the data sheet

Vinous (A. Galloni) : 94-96/100 « The 2025 Petit Gravet Ainé is gorgeous. Lifted floral overtones, blood orange, chalk, mint, white pepper and vibrant red-toned fruit sizzle on the palate. This understated Saint-Emilion really has energy and verve. Ifs never the most obvious wine, but if's always classy and full of personality. »

Bettane+Desseauve : 94-95/100 “The Cabernets have a long finish. The floral and peppery notes give the wine its full depth.”

Vinous (N. Martin) : 91-93/100 "The 2025 Petit Gravet Ainé has a powerful nose, with damson and fresh fig scents, though it feels a little too pushed for the vintage. The palate is medium-bodied with chewy tannins, quite a bit of extraction, although there is an underlying sapidity that keeps it fresh. It will need a bit of time, but it should eventually mellow."

J-M Quarin : 90/100 « Deep black colour. Intense on the nose. Hints of fresh black fruit. Deep and complex when swirled in the glass. Soft on the palate at first, flavourful in the mid-palate, the wine glides across the palate towards a long, juicy finish, with deep aromas of black fruit. »
