Even if they have exceptional ageing potential, we recommend tasting Sauternes from their earliest youth.
They do not have tannic astringency and their aromatic complexity is therefore fabulous!

This small estate, well known to the initiated, shines at the top of the Champagne hierarchy. Coming from a 31 ha vineyard, its cuvées render with finesse and purity the potential of their respective terroirs. Coming from 3 grands crus and 2 premiers crus, elaborated only from the first press juices, vinified in tuns, unfiltered and hardly dosed, the 700 cuvées are great Champagne wines offering a remarkable ageing potential. The number corresponds to the vintage on the basis of which the cuvée is elaborated: 743 = 2015, 744 = 2016, 745 = 2017, 746 = 2018..., completed with some reserve wines.
Since January 2023, the Maison Jacquesson belongs to Mr. Pinault (Latour in Bordeaux, Clos de Tart in Burgundy, Château-Grillet in the Rhône, etc.).

A medium-sized house (still family-owned) but belonging to the small circle of the best Champagne Houses, Pol Roger has long built its reputation by offering Champagnes of great breed, gourmet without being demonstrative and always accompanied by a refined aromatic precision.
This ranges from the entry level, the Brut Réserve, mature and elegant, an ideal champagne for any occasion rated 16/20 "A reference" by the Revue du Vin de France, to the famous Winston Churchill cuvée, one of the greatest bottles of Champagne (the 2013 was rated 97/100 "Fabulous. Formidable example of power without heaviness" by A. Galloni) for a price that remains quite reasonable compared to its peers (Salon, Krug Vintage...). Unquestionably, Winston Churchill was not mistaken in making Pol Roger his favorite Champagne!
Rated 91/100 by the Revue du Vin de France « Beaucoup de discrétion aromatique, façon "Chesterfield", marqué par des notes de fruits rouges du pinot noir. [...] L'ensemble est plus contenu, bien façonné en cave pour livrer une matière sans débord ni exubérance. » (Dec. 2021)

The cuvée Blanc de Blancs Millésimé is made with 100% chardonnay.
Maison Roederer has been regaining its lustre since 2010, under the guidance of its excellent cellar master Mr. Lecaillon, who is convinced of permaculture and agroforestry and who in 2018 put half (120 ha) of the vineyard in organic conversion. The style of the House is now oriented towards straightness and salinity, refined and uncluttered wines.
The range begins with the Collection cuvée (previously named Brut Premier), judiciously vinous and as much an aperitif champagne as a meal champagne. Unable to vintage it (to be vintage, a wine must contain at least 85% of the vintage), Roederer chose, like Jacquesson, to number it. Thus, Collection n°243 is built around the 2018 harvest (for 59%), assembled with 41% reserve wines from the 2009 to 2017 vintages.
Then come three vintages Brut, Rosé and Blanc de Blancs (currently in the elegant and great year 2014) to conclude with Cristal their world famous flagship cuvée. Brut Nature is a new transversal cuvée, only produced in 2006, 2009 and now 2012, where purity (zero dosage) and generosity (pinot noir dominant) are the key words.

Rated 92/100 by Antonio Galloni (Vinous) « The NV Collection 242 is a new wine from Roederer that replaces the Brut Premier in the range. [...] That blend results in a NV Champagne that offers lovely richness and resonance, with plenty of yellow orchard fruit and floral character. Whereas Brut Premier was typically a focused, nervy wine that, while consistently excellent, also was not always in line with the Roederer house style, the 242 tastes more like a Roederer Champagne in terms of its complexity. » (Nov. 2021)
Rated 93/100 by the Revue du Vin de France « Nous sommes immédiatement séduits par la précision et l'éclat des arômes : framboise, yuzu, poivre... [...] Une superbe définition de champagne, rafraîchissante, crémeuse, aux saveurs nuancées. D'une belle envergure vineuse, c'est un brut très abouti. Un exemple. » (Dec. 2021)

Dubourdieu estate, perfect expression of Sauvignon Blanc (100%), between aromatic freshness (citrus fruits...), vivacity and beautiful serene length. A model for all dry white Bordeaux wines!
On a gravelly soil renowned for its whites, Camus vinifies a small production with a Semillon majority (60%, with 40% Sauvignon), grown in vats. A beautiful white Graves, of good volume, expressive, really very pleasant.
Small estate of 6.5 hectares of Côtes de Francs, where Mr. Thienpont, also owner of Puyguéraud and La Prade, produces an excellent white wine vinified in barrels of 500 liters, long, fat and smooth, with a judicious point of acidity.
Although produced in Lamarque in the heart of Haut-Médoc, this is the most original dry white wine in the Gironde, a blend of gros manseng (as in Jurançon), sauvignon gris (superior to the more common sauvignon blanc), savagnin (as in Jura) and mondeuse blanche (as in Savoie). All this gives a dry white wine with golden reflections, powerful, sapy, fruity, complex and elegant. A special wine!
Family property of the Dubourdieu family. Always very bouquety and expressive, round with buttered notes, perfect to accompany a cheese platter.

Continuing a tradition dating back to the early 20th century, Fonréaud (Listrac) produces a confidential white wine on 3 hectares, very dry and tense, just like the Pavillon blanc de Margaux and, like it, an archetype of dry Médoc whites.
The star of Graves blancs, offering each vintage a very pure and straightforward wine, discreetly woody. It is not surprising to see this regularity in performance, as it is the own property of Florence & Denis Dubourdieu, hence the name of the wine.
» (December 2022)
