Since its acquisition in 1998 by Mr. De Neipperg (Clos de l'Oratoire, Canon-La Gaffelière, La Mondotte), d'Aiguilhe has been part of the new generation of very ambitious wines that bring the appellation of the Côtes de Castillon to a new level. It has just won a second star in the 2023 guide of the Revue du Vin de France.
The 2018 vintage in the press:
La Revue du Vin de France (December 2022): 94/100 “The Neipperg estate has always shone on the limestone bedrock of Castillon. [...] Stephan Von Neipperg and his son Ludovic have now committed their estate to an eco-responsible approach. The wines are changing, new oak has been reduced, [...] The wines are gaining in precision and have never been so balanced, as is the case with the 2018 vintage”.
Vinous (A. Galloni - March 2021): 92/100 "The 2018 d'Aiguilhe offers up a compelling mélange of inky red/purplish fruit and plenty of structure to match. It is impressive in its peer group, but also needs quite a bit of time to be at its best. The 2018 is not quite as showy as it was en primeur, and yet its energy and depth are intriguing".

The 2016 vintage in the press:
Vinous (A. Galloni - December 2018): 92/100 "The 2016 d'Aiguilhe is absolutely delicious. Succulent, nuanced and inviting, the 2016 has so much to offer. Ripe cherry, plum, French oak, mocha, new leather and spice all flesh out effortlessly. Deep, generous and resonant, the 2016 captures all the best the vintage has to offer. Sweet, silky tannins add to the wine's considerable appeal. It would be nice to see a bit less overtness to the oak. The wine really does not need it. In 2016, d'Aiguilhe is very pretty."

The 2015 vintage in the press:
Vinous (A. Galloni - February 2018): 90/100 “The 2015 d'Aiguilhe is a rich, voluptuous wine. Raspberry jam, rose petal, spice and licorice infuse this heady, exotic wine from Stephan Von Neipperg. I would give the 2015 at least another year or two to come together fully. Mocha, white pepper and chalky notes give the wine an attractive upper register.”
With 12 hectares cultivated in biodynamic farming, certified since the 2007 vintage, Clos Puy-Arnaud is one of the great Côtes de Castillon wines that have nothing to envy to neighbouring Saint-Émilion.
Uncompromising, the great wine that has made the estate's reputation is an authentic cuvée, straightforward, deep and made for laying down.
The 2022 vintage in the press:
En Magnum (May 2025): "Its asteriated limestone terroir (the same as on the Saint-Émilion plateau) lends finesse and freshness to remarkable wines. A brilliant 2022 with a wine that displays aromatic power, a full attack and great energy."
Vinous (A. Galloni - January 2025): 94/100 "The 2022 Clos Puy Arnaud is a dense, extroverted wine. Inky dark fruit, licorice, menthol and cloves are all amplified. Usually ClosPuy Arnaud is more refined, but in 2022, the vintage dominates and speaks loudly. Even so, this is a compelling offering. I look forward to tasting it with bottle age."
J.M Quarin (February 2025): 90/100 "Dark, intense, young colour. Very aromatic nose, with very ripe fruit and truffles. Delicate on the palate, savoury in the middle, with a soft body, the wine finishes sappy and long with a finely chalky tannicity."

The 2020 vintage in the press:
La Revue du Vin de France (Guide 2024) : 94/100 Coup de ♥ “Outstanding concentration of fruit, a relief of invigorating flavors.”
Vinous (Antonio Galloni - December 2022): 95/100 “Clos Puy Arnaud 2020 is one of the great wines of this vintage. Notes of inky red fruit, blood orange, spice and mocha follow one another on the palate. Silky tannins envelop the rich, inviting finish. The saline energy and precision of this wine are simply unreal. This is a wine of extraordinary character and personality.”

The 2019 vintage in the press:
La Revue du Vin de France (December 2022): 93/100 “Since its purchase in 2000 and conversion to biodynamic agriculture, Thierry Valette's cru has produced one of the most interesting Merlot-dominated reds on the Right Bank. 2019 is a model of depth and savory elegance.”
Vinous (A. Galloni - January 2022): 94/100 "The 2019 Clos Puy Arnaud is fabulous, just as it was in barrel. Plush and beautifully layered, with soft contours and silky tannins. Dark fruit, mocha, cloves, licorice, violets and spice all build as this flamboyant Castillon Côtes de Bordeaux opens with a bit of air. In a word: superb".
Selection of the best parcels of Château de Carles (10 ha out of the 20 ha of the estate), certainly the finest and most ambitious wine of Fronsac, making since 2000 equal game with the best classified growths of the slopes of Saint-Émilion. A great wine that should be kept for at least 6 to 8 years.
The 2022 vintage in the press:
In Magnum (May 2025): 94/100 "Great intensity from the middle palate, silky texture, even more potential and freshness than the 2020. Nice chalky touch on the finish. Made to keep for a long time."
Vinous (A. Galloni - January 2025): 93/100 "The 2022 Haut-Carles is terrific. Dark fruit, chocolate, espresso, licorice, lavender and dried flowers race across the palate. Deep, fleshy and quite potent, Haut-Carles has much to recommanded it. Readers will find a Fronsac that balances textural opulence with energy in style."

The 2020 vintage in the press:

La Revue du Vin de France (Guide 2024): 90/100 “Haut-Carles 2020 is much more demonstrative. It offers a richness that will appeal to palates in search of unctuosity”.
Le Point (May 2024): 15/100
Vinous (A. Galloni - December 2022): 92/100 "The 2020 Haut-Carles is stellar. Silky, deep and wonderfully delinated, the 2020 Haut-Carles impress right out of the gate. It shows terrific depth and density, butot at all heavy. Dark red fruit, blood orange, spice, mint, dried herbs and mocha are all finely knit in this dazzling, wonderfully elegant Fronsac".

The 2018 vintage in the press:
En Magnum (May 2025): 93/100 "A significant change as this 2018 was vinified in tank. No heavy, coating tannins, bright, flavoursome fruit, purity and that obvious freshness that most of the much more prestigious vintages lack in this vintage.”
Vinous (A. Galloni - March 2021): 92/100 "The 2018 Haut-Carles is impressive. Started in 2003, the adventure of Clos Louie is a textbook case: doll's vineyard (2.3 ha) on a beautiful clay-limestone terroir of Castillon, very old vines (150 years old!) mostly Merlot and red tail malbec, careful biodynamic cultivation, double manual sorting during the harvest, little interventionist vinification, gentle maturing in 500-litre demi-muids. A true artist's wine, absent from the guides but that informed amateurs know well.
The 2021 vintage in the press:
La Revue du Vin de France (Guide 2024): 93/100 Coup de ♥ “A delicious interpretation of a contemporary Bordeaux, this 2021 focuses on a frank expression of fruit. Not so commonplace in a vintage where many of the region's wines lack substance.”
Applying the same principles of cultivation and vinification as in Angelus, Hubert de Boüard brought his Château de Lalande de Pomerol to the top of his appellation. Rich and luxuriously aged wines, of incredible charm, with each vintage praised by critics. An exceptional 2017 vintage, of which the tiny production (saved from frost) is only available in magnums.
The 2020 vintage in the press:
Vinous (A. Galloni - December 2022): 93/100 "The 2020 La Fleur de Boüard is gorgeous. Freshly cyt flowers, bright red-tonned fruit, blood orange, mint and cinnamon lend notable vibrancy to this mid-weight wine from the Boüard family. It's great to see a style that shows greater freshness than in the early days here."

Noting the extent of the damage (95%) caused by the frost at the end of April 2017 in La Fleur de Boüard, Hubert de Boüard and his daughter Coralie did not give up and decided to pamper the few remaining grapes.
100% Merlot, deep, fleshy, sweet and distinguished, caressing in the middle palate and concluding with a slender and more energetic finish, their superb 2017 is an astonishing success, surely made possible by the tiny harvest (20 hl produced on 40 ha of vines, a tiny yield of 0.5 hl/ha, just one hundredth of a normal harvest!).
And, killing two birds with one stone, they took the opportunity to celebrate their 20th year at La Fleur de Boüard by putting their 2017 only in 1000 numbered magnums specially decorated by the artist Petrusse Reynen.

Vinous (A. Galloni - January 2025): 94/100 "The 2022 Couhins is fabulous. Aromatic and vibrant, with more linear energy than size, Couhins is super-classic. In 2022, it is a bit richer than in most years, but its essential savory drive is still very much in evidence. The long finish is striking."

A family estate reawakened in 2011 by the arrival of son Paul Garcin, a former rock musician on the Bordeaux scene. An instant switch to organic and biodynamic viticulture, to produce intuitive, artist's wines that are immediately sapid and have a strong pleasure note. As a deliberate iconoclast, Paul Garcin makes a point of offering different facets to each Haut-Bergey vintage: a classic cuvée vinified and matured in the tradition of Bordeaux's great growths, the more contemporary Cuvée Paul, and single-vineyard cuvées highlighting their respective terroirs.
An approach hailed by the Revue du Vin de France: "A modern vision and the ability to reinvent oneself without betraying: Haut-Bergey symbolises the current vitality of Bordeaux's most historic vineyard".
Cuvée Paul is a "modern" Pessac-Léognan, produced using contemporary practices to stay as close to the fruit as possible: partial vinification using whole bunches, and virtually wood-free ageing (concrete egg, amphora and demi-muid).

La Revue du Vin de France (Guide 2023): 92/100 “the Cuvée Paul radiates the vibrant, weighty, subtly ferrous and spicy fruit that makes it so distinctive”.

Jean-Marc Quarin (April 2022): 92/100 “Dark, deep and beautiful color. Intense, ripe fruity nose, evolving fragrantly in the glass. Immediately aromatic on the palate, but also tannic, with a happy textural attention to detail and plenty of perfume. Moderate body, leaving plenty of room for the aromas. Very good.”
Vinous (A. Galloni - December 2023): 93/100 “The 2021 Haut-Bailly II is terrific. Savory, aromatic and super-expressive, the II has so much to offer, starting with its understated complexity and overall class. Vinous (N. This is a wine of great class. The palate is medium-bodied, with sappy black fruit aromas, a slight grip, fine tannins, a smooth, consistent texture, and a generous touch of black pepper on the finish.
